ok tonight i was driving on the freeway and spotted an integra... so as usual i caught up to it easily.. anywayz... ok at first he just looked at me and looked away.. at i somewhat took off ahead of him... but for about 2 minutes we couldn't get a good lane to actually floor the gas... there's was too many cars.. but as soon as the lane became clear i took off down shifting to 4th gear... he already took off and was about two cars ahead... he was only ahead of me for about 2 seconds because he manage to get a good lane but easily burnt his ass, beating him by i dunno about 4 cars( more or less)... anyways i put my car in neutral but he just wanted to race more.. so then i shifted my car back up.. but the thing is the shifted it to the wrong gear and i think i put it in 3rd gear because i felt a hard halt on the car. i exited the freeway and as soon as i put it back to neutral and completly stopped, i could feel the car's exhaust pumping like a heart beat... then i felt the car really 'bouncy' and heard my engine making some noises...i dont know what's wrong with the car!!! MAJOR HELP PLEASE!!!

you need to be more descriptive with the issue of the car than the race.
You said you think you shifted to 3rd...did you, or did you hit 1st?
Is the pumping noise from your exhaust coming from the muffler, or are you just assuming its the exhaust?
What kind of noise is your engine making?
What does,"i felt the car really 'bouncy'", mean?
Also, what year and model integra were you racing?

well i don't exactly know what gear i put it in.. ok assume i put it in 3rd... how badly is my car... and then assume i put it in 1st... did i really really messed up engine... well about the pumping thing... everytime i put my hands at the tip of the muffler, i can feel the air stopping and going.. stopping and going ( like a heart beat)... with the noise thing, i tried to locate where the noise was coming from but couldn't relly pin point where exactly it is but i could hear the noise in the area of the Intake manifold and where the spark plugs block is. the integra was the lastest model kind ( don't know exactly what year), not the rsx kind, but before that maybe 1998-2000 iono

i don't know what kind of noise my car is making but it is kinda of high pitch sound... my car felt like it was a "muscle car" if you know what i mean. it didn't feel the same...for some reason the car felt kinda lighter ( i guess) you know how muscle car's engine are... there a bit shakiness to it (the engine). kinda like that.. not normal feeling in my car. also when i try to start my car, it take a few seconds to start my car. right before it starts it makes a scratchy noise like when you turn the key too long... NOTE: i only turned the key until the engine started.. i know that i didn't continue to turned the key after the engine is on!

is it a ticking noise? i bet you bent some valves...
was it hard to shift into gear when you shifted from nuetral? if it was really hard and you jammed it in gear, that probably means you went into first and fu*kd your car up..
what was your speed(mph) when you shifted?

hmmm well if you have bent valves you obviously need to have them replaced.. meaning you'd have to have the cylinder head taken off and have new valves installed, maybe even new springs too.
take it to toyota and act dumb and tell them some BS story about you having to need to downshift to accelerate due to a semi merging on to traffic or some BS like that.. maybe it'll be under warranty ?

but do you think the engine is the cause for my muffler to be acting like a "heart beating"?

- what mph were you goin when you thought you downshifted to 3?
- did you look at ur rpm? what happened to it when you downshifted?
- once on the track, i mis-shifted to 2nd, goin 80 mph(i know i'm retarted, shit happens)...n my rpm went all the way to the cruise control light...i felt that lil bouncing at the end of the race but luckily, it stopped n was back to normal by the next race. i prolly did some internal damage, but from that day on, i raced with total concentration and relaxation.

Your valvetrain is fucked.. plain and simple.. thats my guess too... its a big job just to get the cams and everything off so that you can take the old valves out... definately something i would rather pay for than do myself... and if you dont have full access to a show with air tools then DIY is completely out of the question. take your car to toyota and play dumb.

First of all, Street Racing is GAY. I hope the "thrill" of racing was enough for you to pay for the repairs to your car.
Second of all. Your gear(s) probably got a couple of teeth knocked out thanks to your fabulious driving skills.
Third of all, Your car is "bouncy" because the teeth are stripped and your syncros are more than likely screwed. There is almost endless possiblities of what could have happened to your car.
Forth of all, If you can't tell the difference between 3rd and 1st, you need a damn automatic. It's stupid proof. And it's better for your extreme highway battles you love.

if you were going 70-80 like you said, and shifted to 3rd then nothing would have happend to your car, i shift to fourth while racing at around 82mph. if the RPM's went way past redline then you went to 1st gear, but more likely than anything you fucked your tranny like the people above said. just hope that toyota covers it or else your screwd
was....5speed with i/h/e 15.41 @ 89.30mph 2.282 60'
is....04 srt4 stock 13.936 100.15mph 2.177 60'

Sorry kid youll prolly have to take out one hell of a loan from your bank. I'd think it would be cheaper to go to a junkyard and yank the same type of engine for cheap. There prolly isnt much left of your tranny though. What year is it?

Hey BAC, you need to let people in here know what the year of ur car man. 2000, 2001, 2002, what?? GT, GTS. Cuz if you got 2000 like me man you only got 5yrs or 60,000miles on the PowerTrain Warranty dude, if you past those two Toyota ain't paying shit to fix ur car. Do what the other guy say, Play dumb man, said you downshift to slow down and something went wrong. Tell them to check it out and ask them if the warranty will cover it. chances are they well, do it b4 ur warranty ran out dude or else u're really in deep poop.
