Re: Stolen Keys

Hey Olivia, I don't think it would be impossible to replace the keys yes the immobilizer may be an issue but maybe have a look into Techstream, It's pretty much the diagnostic software that is used by Toyota on early 2000-2012 models. It can be used to search for trouble codes but also has a programming software for things like new keys and immobilizers. I think that's probably your best bet. All you need is a laptop and a mini VCI cable which can be found on ebay if you just punch in Toyota Techstream. As far as installing the software it can be a bit tricky, there is a good write up on the IH8MUD forum page if you just search up Techstream Installation I can't say if it will work for sure since I have never had to replace the keys etc but it may be a start. Hope this helps

Low Idle / Roughness when accelerating past 3,000rpm
ikey04
Hey everyone was hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction with this issue I've been facing for a while now.
My Celica's idle will drop down to almost 200rpm when stationary after hitting operating temperature. Pretty much feels like it's about to stall out but never actually does. When taking off from a set of lights it almost feels like it hesitates or is down on power and then all of a sudden it lurches forward and gets a boost in power again. Then again around 1,500-3,000rpm it feels down on power and in what I can only describe in the engine feeling scratchy. Past 3,000 rpm it gets a little boost in power again but still definitely feels down on power compared to what it used to be and still has that roughness. Also when letting off the accelerator while cruising it's quite jerky.
Note lift is also not working at the moment but I have changed the lift bolts, planning on cleaning the VVT and VVTL-i OCV's
New engine mounts have been installed
I changed the MAF sensor about 4 years ago albeit not OEM.
After doing some research my main ideas now would be a New MAF this time OEM, TPS, IACV or Coil Packs (Changed plugs 50,000km ago)
Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

Fuel Pump Refurbishment
ColoCelica
Nov 3, 2024 4:27am
I have a 78 Celica GT that I'm getting going after sitting for about 10 years. Today, I pulled the fuel pump from the gas tank so I could replace it. I plan to clean the bracket and replace the tubing. On the bracket, I found a device mounted to the bracket that is electrically connected between the power lead and ground. I'm guessing this is a capacitor and is used for noise suppression. The device is cracked and should be replaced. Has anyone seen this device? Any guidance on where I can find a replacement? Thanks for your help.

Strange Problem with Gauge Cluster
Paulseph
Nov 1, 2024 2:38pm
I have a strange problem with my the gauge cluster of my 7th gen Toyota Celica and I was wondering if someone encountered a similar issue and might know what the root cause is likely to be. After changing the car battery, the gauge cluster (dials and odometer) will only light up if I connect the battery and turn the ignition whilst a door is open. However, if I close all doors and leave the car turned off for exactly one minute or if I connect the battery when all doors are closed, the gauge cluster does not work at all. Everything else electrical seems to work just fine in all cases. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance for any help.

2001 Celica GT Damaged Clean Title- Parts or Project
Jess818
Oct 30, 2024 11:55pm
My mother bought this 01 in 2005. She is the 2nd owner and kept it in excellent condition. Rebuilt the engine and earlier this year put on all 4 new tires. She hardly drives - mostly just a short commute one weekly. She planned on keeping the car indefinitely but yesterday hit a deer. We are collecting offers from the big companies like Carmax etc but I figured I should check here as well. Engine, transmission, chassis, interior etc are all great. Not sure if it’s best for parts or if someone wants to take on rebuilding it. Either way, we don’t want to part out and want it to go to one individual If interested please contact us ASAP as we need to move it ASAP. We hope to make a decision tomorrow, Thursday Oct 31st. 813-810-188 one Clean title 2001 160k miles Ventura county Southern California Interior photos to follow Okay with shipping if buyer arranges and pays directly Thanks everyone.

I fried my battery cables. Where can I find replacements at? The ones they sell at Walmart don’t have a place to hook into the starter solenoid. Kinda at a loss here.
