I believe the people who drive autos think people who drive stick are some crazy, bumbling, sweet in traffic, which gear am I in, oh no starting on a hill people. For me driving a manual is as easy as an automatic if not easier. The advantages of a manual are far greater than those of an automatic, which don't have any, especially in a little 4 banger.

Wait a minute...
I learned to drive manual ages ago (1985) I drove AT for first time (2001 at work)
I bought '00 GT AT, because I got a really good deal w/a friend who needed the $... (I took advantage) laughsilly
The car looks pretty good (everybody ask me if it's new !!!) laughsilly crazy
The tittle is CLEAN I got it for less than $10k eek

That's WHY!
Some time life give you oportunities like this only once!
I'm planning to get a GTS MT before this year ends! happywink

Banning automatics club. Almost a good idea. How about just banning automatics in the Celica club. Automatics have a place in many vehicles, just not in the Celica. My Ramcharger has an automatic and I tow my camper with it. If it had a manual the clutch would have burned out long ago. Don't some race cars have automatics? I recall the Chapperell's used automatics for a while...KenC

Hold on people. Don't take what I wrote too seriously. I would have an auto if I drove a Rolls Royce, Bently, or some some towing monster, if stick just wasn't feasible. Someone posts a topic like this and I just give my opinion, like it or not. Automatics still should be banned.

Driving an auto is boring? I have an auto and love it. I use my free hand to collect my cash and smack my hoes.

manual can be frustrating when learning..but after you stick to it and get a hang(wihch shouldnt take long)..you will HATE auto..i hate driving auto..i sometimes slam the brake with my left foot cause i think its a clutch(i drive auto like once a year)..and as for people saying "i like to talk on the phone and eat while i drive"..you can all those things with manual.. when i was learning someone was like..dont worry..it will become second nature..you will b shifting..talking on the phone..fumbling arond with cds for the stereo..and you wont even be thinking about shifting..it just happens
