New Mods - Check It Out! #189269 May 31, 3:18pm Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 132 New York SunburstCelica Member 2001 Toyota Celica GT SunburstCelica Member 2001 Toyota Celica GT Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 132 New York Here are a few minor mods I did to my celica this weekend. 1st mod was putting some yellow carbon fiber vinyl under my door handles & on inserts on TRD spoiler. 2nd mod was installing door yellow fabric inserts over existing red & black ones. I wasn't happy with the ones I bought @ celica store. Yellow felt was patchy & could see through in some areas. Let me know what you think?

Took me 3 stores before I got the color to match. The vinyl is not Bat's. I work in the sign industry & have access to all sorts of different vinyl.

Everything was painted except engine bay & under trunk carpet. Cost for prep & paint ran me about $5,500, another $1,800 in body part mods & $1,200 in rims & tires.

All you have to do is cut your fabric about 1/2" bigger the the pattern that you make from the door insert. Then take a butter knife & start @ one end & push fabric over existing panel with an even amount of overhang all around. Smooth out fabric with other hand as you work around perimeter. Becareful as you probably already know the plastic scratches easily. Hope this helps.

Wanted to stand out from the crowd & I've always wanted a yellow car. Also a graphic designer in the sign business, yellow is the most versatile color for doing vinyl graphics. Some people may not like it but I love the color.
