This morning a truck didn't quite make it past my parking car while he was driving backwards:
This is where the spoiler used to be. Nice dent!
Taillight got killed too!
And the bumper is scratched and cracked. Well done, mr. truck driver aka idiot! Estimated damage is about 4500.00 Euro (about $5400.00), if the bumper has to be replaced. Luckily his insurance has to cover it all !
I didn't estimate the amount myself, that was done by someone whos' job it is to estimate how high the damage is (there is probably a real word for that job, but I'm not american, so i don't know). I will get a new rear hatch, a new spoiler, new tails and maybe a new bumper, plus a paint job for spoiler, bumper and the part next to the bumper, which is slightly scratched. The prices for the parts are WAY higher in Germany than they are in the States. I will know the exact amount sometime next week, when it's clear if the bumper has to be replaced or not. I know it doesn't look like that much damage, but that guy says its accurate and I don't mind getting some extra cash from the insurance .
Just curious... what is the cost of a new GTS over there?
The suggested retail price from the german toyota page (www.toyota.de [toyota.de]) is (with sunroof) 29920.00 Euro , that's over $36000.00 2sq! But only an idiot would buy it for that price. You can get a GTS new for around 24000.00 Euro if it's imported from Denmark, Belgium or something like that.
If you import a car in from a neighboring country do you have to pay the 'mehrwertsteuer' to the German government and the country where you bought it?
Does the 'ER' on your license plate mean you live in or around Erlangen?

I seriously have no clue, but my guess is yes.

Erlangen is exactly where I live. How come you know that little town?!?
The Kaminari Carbon Fiber race wing will look 100X better than your old one... considering this, and not accounting for the hassle involved, I think the guy did you a favor -
I decided to bring this post back from the dead, instead of making a new thread. I got the money from the insurance, less than I thought, but still more than enough to repair the car. After taking pictures of my ride without the spoiler (pics can be found here), I decided to keep it wingless. The wiper bothered me tho, it just didn't fit with the cleaner look, so bye bye wiper.
I'll get the hatch and the bumper painted tomorrow, new pics to come. I really need some new tails now!
that sucks you ought to get a real big red neck gun and go full scale red neck on his red neck truck
they say smile and the whole world smiles with you;how come when i smile the whole world thinks im up to somthing<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/whatever.gif" alt="" />
