Did the Eng plastics with the new Krylon Fusion. Stuck well. Went over that with a few coats of Clear Enamle. Will tell you how it hold sup over the next few weeks.

Concidering doing the interior Plastics with the same color. I like it alot. this pic doesnt show the color that well.. Looks a bit better smile

Anyone tryed that stuff for the interior pieces?

On a side note if anyone uses this stuff.. about 3/4 of my garage has blue powder on the floor , and I jsut blew my nose and nothing but blue came out... WOuld suggest doing this OUTSIDE lol. I had the Big Garage door open and the side door open so the ventelation was good.. but the paint has a really powdery (Is that a word?) texture to it.

ALSO... when you start painting put a really thin coat on like so thin you can barley see the paint, then let sit for 3min then put first real coat on. Learned this the hard way.

Remeber this is on a plastic decorative part...not a heat shield or something that sits on the manifold.

I jsut did my A-Pillars, Automete Gauge pod, Console Trim, Tweater covers, and the plastic part around the map Light. Came out GOOOD. going to do the rest this weekend will put up pics smile

I did my whole interior with this a few months ago... No sanding, no clearcoat.. Still holding up pretty well. Would show pics but laptop is not useable at the moment. May redo it and clearcoat it to make it last longer...

NONE trick was to put a VERY thin layer on and let set for 2min before doing first coat. I did Light coats and let sit for 3-5min between them. Set up very well. Only bad Spot I had was from the enamle cause it sputtered and spit a bunch out on one spot.

Btw if anyone is worried about the paint chipping or melting form the heat of the engine. you can buy a clear coat of ENGINE PAINT which will with stand heat of 500F.

You did a sweet job painting it but its not my color of choice to bright.. But sweet work thumbsup

What kind of clear coat did you use? I'm thinking about painting my engine and interior plastics red. Just wonder what I'll need and how much.

no candy

All I did was take some ... (Fantastik) All purpose cleaner and wiped down the plastics.

then from about 12" sprayed a SUPER light coat on the peices.. so the piece looked speckeld. Let sit for about 5minutes then did a very light coat. after the first coat the old gray was still showing throught a lot.. start with a SUPER light coat, then a light coat, let set for 5-10 then start putting on normal coats. Jsut take your time and do it light.

I used jsut plain ol. Rustoleum Enamle + Protectant for hte clear coat.

Looks great in person. I messed up on about 1sq" on the Gauge cluster trim cause I started rushing it DONT RUSH !!!!

Im going to paint the rest of the trims I can, Bezel, Power mirror trim, vents, ect ect. And get teh blue Inserts for hte doors. I really liekd this bright blue It really stands out and looks great in person. Plus the blue arm rest inserts look about the same color.

1 can of the Enamal did 2 coats on all of it.

Total cost thus far.. $11.97

I started hurrying at one point cause' I was worried about driving a half put together car to work tomarrow and I scred up and got a few finger prints on the stuff. Let sit for 2hours after putting enamal on atleast before handeling. You will thank me later for not rushing grin

Hope this helps thumbsup

very good stuff. IMO, the blue is a bit too bright for me. was/is there any other shades of blue available? (the krylon website listed only one blue color)

thanks bro thumbsup

I hope I can find that stuff here in Germany! It's hard for me to even find good car cleaning stuff let alone specialized paint... Seems like it's a much quicker job then having to sand and all that crap... looks nice man!
