Question about faulty gas gauge on 2000 GTS

anyone know what the source of the problem is. the gas gauge works sometimes, and sometimes it shows empty or an incorrect amount.
Anyone else had the same problem? is it the sending unit inside the tank?
Any insight would be appreciated smile

I had it happen once at the track. but never again.

Best 60' 1.959 best 1/4 - 13.7 @ 101mph
