I'm down for it and the trip to So Cal but what exactly is involved with the installation and what is needed for the modifications?

Installation is not very difficult and requires only finding wires and making connections and drilling and mounting the box. If you don't want to deal with the electrical connections, then you can have a shop install everything for anywhere between $130-160. You can do the tuning/programming using any pc computer but a laptop is much better if you have one so you don't have to bring a desktop near your car. You can have a pro shop tune the e-manage for around $200. I would do the tuning yourself only if you have the right equipment like a wideband 02 sensor so you have an idea where you need to add fuel. The best and cheapest one to buy is by Innovate Motorsports for $350. Yes, everything costs money, but once you have all the tools you don't need to pay anyone else to fine tune your car, which is what you have to do for maximum horsepower and torque.

400 is a lot..the average price for this runs 300-350. you might want to change that price..

I don't mean to dog your sale, but Monkeywrenchracing has this for $320. Get one pre-tuned for 1zz or 2zz for $529.

you can get the wideband sensor off a Honda Hybrid for like $100 at the Honda dealer..

Well you are. You have to read and observe not that hard really. $320 is for the e-manage alone not the support software ($117) or the injection and ignition harnesses ($40 each). DO THE MATH. And "pretuned" is a joke on a piggyback because you don't need base maps because everything is +/- values relative to the stock ecu. LOL. Since when is "pre-tuned" really "tuned"? Every car is different and you'll have to do some tuning anyway so why throw away an extra $200 when you can have someone tune it to your particular car for the same price??? Duh...

Quartermiler, I really wasn't trying to piss you off. I remember when everyone wasn't so touchy on this site. I haven't dealt with a piggyback system, so I can accept there is a lot I don't know about it...the pre-tuned statement is Monkeywrench racing's not mine.

well it's good to have a laptop, but if you really wanted to you could move and set up your desktop near your car, running an electrical extension of course, to do the programming of the box. A laptop is also nice b/c the GReddy has the real time map trace function which shows you what part of the map your car is using at that moment.

It basically accomplishes the same thing as the PowerFC. The two differ mainly in that the PowerFC is a much more expensive standalone unit that completely replaces your stock ecu, whereas the GReddy e-manage is a piggyback which makes adjustments to what your stock ecu does. With the PowerFC you can do a few more things like play with lift engagement on the GTS and make adjustments to the Intake valve timing, but that's really dangerous to mess with unless you really know what you are doing. Since the GReddy e-manage is a piggyback and allows OBD-II codes to still be run off the stock ecu, you can possibly pass smog with the e-manage whereas all your tuning on the PowerFC (non OBD-II) would be for nothing at smog time, and you would have to pull out the PowerFC and put the stock ecu back in for the test, but then you may subsequently run lean causing check engine lights or trouble codes and probably won't pass smog at that point (unless you pray hard enough and it's a miracle). So in conclusion, if you don't mind the price tag, the potential hassle of the PowerFC, and especially if you have a GTS and a 2002 at that, I would go with the PowerFC. But if you are more of an amateur racer and not looking to go pro, then I would stick with the e-manage so you don't have to reconfigure and put your car completely back to stock every two years to pass smog (after the initial 4 yrs CA). The fuel map is where most of the gains are made by making sure your engine is getting just the right balance of air/fuel, and the GReddy e-manage handles that task beautifully.

Personally, I bought the e-manage thinking it would be a lot more convenient smog time, but then I decided to do whatever it takes for ultimate Performance since I may actually go pro in all-motor NHRA (at least try) so I just bought a PowerFC, which hasn't arrived yet. Plus it makes economic sense b/c I have the 2002 GTS ecu which we all know as the low rev limit of 7800 rpm instead of 8400 rpm so I would have to spend money on top of my e-manage getting a 2001 GTS ecu. If you don't have the '02 GTS ecu and you're not extremely hardcore about racing, and you are worried about having a car that might not pass smog, you'll be happy with the GReddy e-manage.
C2Gas, owner of C2Power and maker of great Turbos uses the e-manage simply because it works well with Turbos and if you are possibly thinking of going that route later on, and want to keep your car smog legal...then that's pretty much the only way to go, barring having to completely remove your Turbo kit just for your smog test (if you had the PowerFC). Also another big downside to the PowerFC is that you have to know what you are doing when it comes to auto mechanics because if something is wrong other than your knock level, your car will NOT tell you since it is not OBD-II compatible. That is you won't get any check engine lights and you could have a major or minor problem with any of the systems in your car. With the GReddy e-manage you will still get check engine lights if warranted and still be able to read codes with a scanner. So it's not just an immediate decision about saving $1000 with the e-manage..it's about time and convenience which is also money.

Yes it will work for a GT, and for any car that is EFI-Electronic Fuel Injection. So if you change cars later, you can always still use it. No you can't change the rev limit on a GT, but you don't need to, since the GT makes its power down low, and you'll be slower if you shift higher.

If you don't have an A/F ratio meter with datalogging and know how to use it, then yes it does need to be dynotuned by professionals and that will cost between $200-$300 depending on who does the work.

Greddy e-manage is a great toy, easy to understand, does what street tuners need, not expensive. Works with most of the cars and on GT and GTS ( so can be sold on any forum not like the PFC as a car specific ECU).
I dont find the price any irrealistic, I understand ppl who are willing to make a deal, but they should offer him something and not blame him being expensive. Again, as he listed its not just a unit but a "full" setup and price is realistic.
Anyway I`m interested if it can be shipped asap.
(why am I? cos we usually buy them cheap (more pcs), but it all goes thru Florida, and our shipping is messed up by hurricanes, and we are out of them now. Could I get a pm offer as low you would let it go?
