yeah, my shifting has an even notchier feel now since I got my B&M shortshifter... I don't think it's the B&M's fault...I believe it just magnified a problem that was already there. I'm going to try getting the Speed Source Shifter Cable Bushings, as I have heard it helps eliminate the notchy feel and make the entrance into the slot nice and smooth. http://www.speed-source.net/It's the choice on the left, not right. The short shifters come with their own base bushings. But if you don't have a short shifter you can get the base bushings too. Don't you all order it at once now b/c I haven't ordered mine and I don't want them to run out of stock.

^^^I'm down with that explination also about the SS. Toyota's gear box can be notchy at times. I personally kind of like it that way. If you're misshifting and hitting 9,000 + RPMs you need a little practice. That's not good for your car. Make sure you reset your ECU before you take your car to Toyota for anything like a tune-up because they will know otherwise. I myself am going to try the bushings from Speed Source and also get the shifter base bushings from another company, to get rid of any slop occurred in shifting. I don't no what the hell I'm waiting for. I have the stock stick, above average but not gigantic size, and I have been told before from someone that rode with a SS that my shifter was as smooth as butter and this person was thinking about going back to stock because of it. The only thing stopping her was the longer shaft for aesthetics. Which I don't mind throwing around. Good enough for me.

even though my throw is shorter...I actually shifted much better with the stock...even though I have had time to practice with the SS. So if the shifter cable bushings don't reduce the notchiness, then I might go back to stock. Then again it could be my 02 GTS shift gates magnifying the problem even more lol. And the only way to change that is to get a new transaxle as Illusive noted in another thread.

Tell her to dump her short stick and go with you b/c length matters and not to worry about aesthetics. She's lucky you're average, and not a short stick.

Right on! But it's above average. Read again. Anyways, is Illusive running with a 2000 shift gates? I missed the other posts or topics.

Yeah, same exact thing happened to me. I was downshifting from 3rd to 2nd, hang around Neutral for a second to rev match while going downhill. I tried going into 2nd, and nada, it would not go in, it was as if it was blocking me off or something. I tried it 4 times and still nothing. I had to pull over and start all over. It was weird as hell.

^^ yup, my bad hephaestus, you're above average. Go get him Ladies. Yeah Illusive said he had to put in a 2000 tranny because his 02 broke from racing (probably powershifting!).
