Just remember, the only thing that limits the power of the law is their ability to enforce it. We could all be living in a policed state that allows no freedom.
Just because they are the law, doesn't make them right. Speeding tickets are BS, charge people who cause accidents not people who don't. Speed does not cause accidents, idiots do. This is the dumbest thing I have ever heard anyone say on a message board. You know what the definition of accident is?  besides, aren't threads that have to do with "illegal" things locked by default? Susans just trying to get you shut down. Don't worry about her. Ever since pimpy and the cones thread, you got to watch what you say. Hes saying some police have faults too. They're only ppl, after all, with special priveleges and responsibilities. Which is why you have traffic court to fight it. I don't know about the police state comment. At this point, we are closer to a police state than total anarchy. Both speed and idiots cause accidents  . Mostly when those idiots drive fast while intoxicated, but then Mods might try to shut this thread down for talking about drinking and driving. Speeding tickets insure ppl don't drive fast. When you drive fast, your reaction time is slower, the damage is greater, and more ppl are likely to die. Speed limits are posted for a reason  . Now if you want to talk about the letter of the law versus the spirit of the law, we can start a new thread and go from there.  you guys are still talking about this bullshit? I go on vacation and it still going on. I am not trying to "shut anyone down"? Whatever that means? There is a diff. between going about your daily driving, even when a cop is there and you happened to go 5 over or were speeding and you just didn't get caught...then there is actually saying you "ran". That is not considered RUNNING from a cop. Running from a cop is when lights & sirens are on and you are literally in a chase. That is the way I took this story and that is the reason why I said the things I said.

If it makes you feel any better, I picked up my 17th ticket last week. I was just cruising, doin' 70 in a 55 (no big deal right?). I wasn't looking for cops and a trooper came over the hill. I wasn't really sure if I wanted to run since he was in one of those imapala's. I have no idea how fast they are. So I pulled over. *shrug* Can't win'em all, obviously. He reduced it for me and now it's a $76 and 2 points. Heh, I tried posting a pic of all the tickets once but for some reason Isaac kept deleting it. Guess he thought I was a bad influence.

It's reasonable actually. Apparently my adjustors don't pick up the 2 pointers and normally I can get it reduced to at least that much. The trick is knowing how to get around'em. A few friends who know people, or just go and plead your case and look totally pathetic. Another great one is Careless Driving of a Motor Vehicle. It's double the fine, but none of the points. I got two tickets within the same month and had to go to court for'em. The judge let me lump the two together and I used that (but apparently you can only use it once in 3 years). I'm not sure if they check on that or not, cause a judge in Clemson was gonna let me do it again. *shrug* Some of'em you just get lucky with.

What is all this talk about points? In Illinois we don't go on a point system, at least I don't think we do?
I remember when we had laminated ID', if yours had a staple mark (since they stapled your lisc. to the ticket) that was considered BAD. Now our IDs are plastic, can't staple through them

17th ticket?!?!? holy mother of all that is sacred!! Yeah, that's the normal response I get, hahaha. It was funny, for my freshman orientation, we had to get into groups. Then we had to tell two truths and a lie. I told them that I had had 32 points against my liscense at one time (for those who don't have a points system, 12 is the limit in SC), that I got chased by a state trooper and two county sheriffs on the way there, and that I drove a ferrari. Haha, a couple said the second, a few said the third. They didn't know which one was the lie.
