I'm glad someone stepped up to the plate to create an awesome kit for the GT.

There is no Supercharger for the GT. The GTS supercharger (Blitz) should be out in Sept. The 140 hp on the site is to the crank. The GT puts out 124 hp to the wheels. So, 170 for the auto would be a true 50ish hp gain. The manual was said to make possibly 210 whp...BUT THERE NO DYNOS AS OF YET!! If the auto dynos at 170 to the wheel like they think, I'm just going w/ a 50 shot, same affect, much cheaper

Hey guys, yep, it's done, and orders are going on now.

I'd like to clear up some misinformation I keep reading though.

The Celica GT produces 140 hp at the crank, which translates to around 120 hp at the wheels on a manual drivetrain. It's less, like 110 hp at the wheels on an automatic.

A 70% increase is a 70% increase. But, don't say, "It has 140 hp stock, but only 170/80/90 with the turbo. That's a waste of money." 170/80/90 is at the wheels on an automatic, not at the crank on a manual, so be aware there's a big difference.

Basically, I want 240 at the crank. Higher numbers can be attained by those looking to up the boost a bit, and that's fine, but that's on them. Like a stock MR2 Turbo that can do over 400 hp or a stock Supra TT that can do over 900 hp, you get the ability to go higher, but it's not directly out of the box.

Frankly, going higher than 70% above stock on this engine would compromise long-term reliability, so if someone wants to do it, they're going to have to be the ones to do it.

That's all. The kit isn't limited to 240 hp, but I'm not shipping it out any higher. I've seen what happens over time, and unless you do internals, you really don't want it that high.

At any rate, there is a video, albeit it's a little cheesy at the moment.

Video: http://www.trdsource.com/clients/ncorg/turbo/gtturbo1.mpg

Thanks, and feel free to ask any questions (should you have any).

Sincerely,
David

XS Engineering has a $5000 turbo kit for the GTS.

On their website they posted the stock whp and then the bhp with the turbo kit. anyway, using stock bhp, it's a 70 bhp increase.

If you could get a turbo kit for the GTS that would offer similar gains for only $3700, would you be interested?

Daivd since you are now posting on this site, which we highly appreicate ... I remember reading the difference between the Automatic kit and Manual kit is that the automatic one comes with a transmission oil cooler ... would it be benifical to also have the cooler on the manual ???

If so, could we just order the automatic kit as well since everything else stays the same.

So what are the dynos saying, what are the gains from the turbo? What will a larger intercooler and blow-off vlave do?

I remember reading the larger intercooler is pretty pointless because the base one is already rated for 540hp, it just "looks cooler" as David said.

The blow-off valve is for the pppsssssstttttt sound, I don't think it has any other benifit confused

man i'm sorry but thats way too overpriced, i'd much rather get an turbocharged 240 HP SRT-4 with a stage 1 kit

http://www.mopar.com/perf_srt_turbo.html

can't handle that, and plus it's only $400

i'll take that with and SRT-4, the Price..? under $20k

Real blow-off valves are used in high boost (20+ psi) to prevent the momentary rise in boost pressure of up to 50 psi from blowing out intercooler side tanks or popping off hoses when the throttle is shut. But at normal boost levels (under 18 psi) we can use the rush of over pressure to prevent our turbocharger from stalling all the time when we lift the throttle. This helps the turbo make better throttle response and boost quicker in real world conditions.

Enter the $35 by-pass (or priority valve) concept first developed on the AUDI rally cars and first introduced in the Audi Quattro Turbo and Porsche 944T. The very first Subaru EJ20 in 1989 also had this type valve. Your WRX has one also and we want you to keep it on your motor, unless there comes a reason to change it out.

The compressor by-pass valve is connected from the turbocharger compressor high pressure side (intercooler) back through to the low pressure side (the intake section) just ahead of the turbo compressor. When you close the throttle to shift gears this valve opens. It makes a loop of air back into the inlet with the boost spike of air pressure in the intercooler. Everyone has probably heard a blow-off valve go 'whoosh'. Well, we want that 'whoosh' to go right back to work keeping the turbo compressor wheel from slowing down. Instead of spending money on an aftermarket blow-off valve just to make noise, we leave the factory priority valve in place. Why?

The loop air flow effectively puts the turbocharger into a no load condition and the wheel keeps spinning. Under this very low load condition the high pressure air in the intercooler blows into the intake via the by-pass valve and pin-wheels compressor impeller. When the throttle is opened again, the turbine wheel is still spinning at a relatively high rpm and will go right back to work putting out boost.

Without this by-pass valve feature the compressor/turbine wheels tend to stall between shifts and it takes longer to build up boost again after each shift. This is also true when the throttle is lifted in a corner for any reason. When you get back in to the gas, the by-pass valve actually is slow in closing and lets the turbine free wheel for an eye blink, bringing the boost on much quicker. Why any driver would spend money and give this throttle response advantage in away for the sake of noise of a blow-off valve is almost funny to think about. Yet, many shops will sell you a blow-off valve with a straight face. But, now you know. This is a classic case of, 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

do whatever you want. this site, everythingcelica.com is set-up for celica enthusiasts. sure you can do whatever you want to that SRT4 but a true enthusiast will do what it takes to make his or her celica perform above the rest.

Hey, I'm kind of pressed for time, but let me toss a few things up here.

Yes, the bigger intercooler is basically just for show, although it will provide a little better cooling at slow speeds on hot days.

The BOV is strictly for the sound. A lot of people have expressed an interest, so they will be happy wink

As for the shipping costs, go to the site and click on the items like you're going to order, and it will tell you exactly how much shipping is when you put your zip code in.

Please feel free to hit me with any questions at all.

7psi for daily driving. But the GT can handle up to 10 on occasion.

can you still have the CAI intake installed in your car? by the looks of it, it seems like you wont have room for it with all those pipes everywhere.
