I wasn't aware of the problem of one-way valve in the fuel tank for the 02 Celica. Now my car has over 37K mileage on it and it's no longer under factory warranty. Do you think the dealership will still replace this?

I don't think there's a time limit on NHTSA mandated recalls. Imagine the legal issues if Toyo refused to repair and there was a subsequent 'incident' related to the defect?

Recalls are fixed anytime by the dealer for free no matter how long you've had the car, unless its documented that the recall has already been done on your car. Atleast thats how I think it goes. I had a 95 Eclipse GS-T, and the dealer guy replaced my lower control arms for free when I took it in for a checkup, and I had just bought the car with a salvage title, so there was no warranty or anything and the car was 5 years old with 100,000 miles.

You should be able to go down and get it no matter how many miles you have on it... its a safety issue thats being recalled toyota is required to fix it.

yup, no matter what -unless you already had it done- you can still have it serviced for that particular recall and others that might follow

Yup, everyone with an '02 should either take their car in or verify the work has already been done if you don't know.

No. You would most likely have gotten something in the mail. It clearly states on the card it is for late 2002 and early 2003 celica models.
