Celica Forums General Discussion General I fell asleep at the wheel last night...

... And hit a mailbox, garbage can, and then wound up in the ditch across the street. I dont know if my baby is totalled. My leg is killing me and my shoulder hurts. I duno wtf is going to happen ...


If its totalled I wont be able to afford anything else like the celica. How much do you think they would give me for it?

i've fallen asleep at the wheel a couple times. i don't know how the hell i got home in one piece, because it's happened at least 3 times. if you're feeling even just a lil sleepy, crash at a friend's house or pull off the side of the road or exit the freeway and find a parking lot and sleep. sleepy driving is A LOT worse than drunk driving.

get that checked and hope you get better.

that sux, shoudlve had a friend with you or brother/sister, its never good to force urself to drive while ur tired.

wen i was driving home from mexico back to my place(2 1/2) hours i was dead f**king tired, and i was at a meet in SD that morning, the way i stayed awake was by going 90-95 the entire way home, becuz going 65 it felt so slow and just i kept dozing in and out, im not saying its safe to go that fast, but wen i was i was staying awake, goin in and out of lanes, and it was fun becuz there was this audiA4, me, and a Base RSX all doin 90 and we happened to stay on the same freeway the entire time, so that kept me kinda awake. but idk, do w/e you can in the future to keep you awake, LOUD MUSIC doesnt help lol, you just get used to it after a while, also you could roll down ur windows so the cold air would keep you awake n the noise. hope that kidna helped you bro.

I fell asleep about 3 years ago and ended up in a head on colission with a probe. Well the probe got pretty beat up and so did my cavalier, and I ended up in the hospital for 4 days with a broken leg. Let me tell you, the titanium rods that they put in your femur when you break it are not fun, not to mention the two inch screws also, plus the 6 months of physical therapy. Good to hear that you got out safer than I did.

Thanks guys for all the support... Ive been laying down all day. My body is killing me. Ive got brusies all over. When I cant stand to lay down anymore ive been looking at other 'affordable' cars just in case. I dont want to get out of the car scene, does any one have any suggestions? It's gotta be sexy

But I still have no idea what the damages are, ive called insurance today and its gunna go up 1700 bucks, so thats $5200 total now a year. I also got a ticket for careless driving last night... forgot to mention that.

As for everyones suggestions on how to keep awake, believe me ive done it all and was doing it all last night. My music was bliaring, my windows were down. I wasn't speeding cause its a back road and there were deer so that wouldnt have been safe. Plus Ive given up speeding, cant afford that anymore.

Now when I feel sleepy I call someone while I'm driving (yeah, I know, but it works) or I put in something that I know the words to and sing along.

i get sleepy all the time wen i drive back from my gurls house, she lives 45 mins away, and i always leave at 12, so i get home at 1. one time i was so sleepy she gave me head so i can stay awake, then ones we got to her house. her mom told me to sleep over, im so lucky to have a gurl like her. post pix of ur car, so we can see how bad it is, glad ur survive

man, glad u're ok. i had so many people that i knew who lost their lives in accidents because they fell asleep..

most important rule: if you feel tired, dont push urself and dont try it, just stop at any rest area and sleep 10-15 minutes, that'll be enough.. thats wot my dad always told me
and i tested it myself while driving from boston to detroit..almost hit a van at 5 am when fell asleep.. i guess someone was just watchin down for me and made me wake up just a second from hitting another car at 90 mph

sorry to hear that, if your air bag didnt deploy it might not fall into a totaled catagory unless you bent the frame of the car. If its all cosmetic then your good to go

My front left wheel came off and riped off the spring. other than that I dont know...

on my last accident, one of my axles came off and one of my rims shattered and some cosmetic damages but i was still be able to fix it so yours should be ok
