PIAA and MTEC are equally just as good they burn out because you didn't handle them correctly. Incorrect. If you touched the bulb, they'd explode. Burnt out filaments are nobody's fault but the manufacturer's. ^^that quote owned this thread, it's done... how did i get owned? if something went wrong, obviously the person putting it in MISHANDLED the job. just because i said "them" in the sentence which relates to the bulb doesn't mean i was wrong, i meant it as a whole. i'd rather have better visibility with a bulb, then have it burn out and get a new one than have a bulb that doesn't light up jack shit.

[sarcasm]Billy, you forgot that filaments are supposed to last for millions and millions of hours.[/sarcasm]

and why doesn't it have any high performance Xenon bulbs in it's listing... Cause HIDs would blow away any bulb in this test. most of the bulbs it lists are just general replacement bulbs that could be found at your local Autozone or Pepboys (or Ralphs/Vons/Rite-Aid/Savon) replacement parts isle (also notice the packaging of each of their photos) And what kind of bulbs do you think they sell in the Japanese versions of Autozone, Pep Boys, etc?

we are in North America still, right? Not Japan... Most of the visitors to this site are also from North America... Not so much in Japan... I used REAL WORLD NORTH AMERICA FACTS to prove my point... BTW - We are talking about HIGH PERFORMANCE / HIGH INTENSITY DISCHARGE (H.I.D.) BULBS... XENON GAS FILLED HEADLIGHT BULBS

What I meant by my last statement is that the bulbs you were talking about finding at Pep Boys, etc are the same as PIAA, MTEC, etc. Pep Boys, etc tend to lean more towards American manufacturers, so of course they're not gonna stock multiple brands of import street racer bulbs, just like you won't find lots of US brands in Japan. The real world quality level is the same between all of them. BTW - We are talking about HIGH PERFORMANCE / HIGH INTENSITY DISCHARGE (H.I.D.) BULBS... XENON GAS FILLED HEADLIGHT BULBS OK, so then we're not talking about PIAA or MTEC anymore, then?

I'm so totally lost by the last few posts. Anyway, I'm pretty sure that the point is none of the bulbs being used by members on this board were reviewed on that site. It also doesn't tell you which bulbs are standard halogen bulbs with clear glass, and which are xenon bulbs with colored glass. You can't post a review for a product you THINK is similiar then expect us to transfer the findings onto what we're talking about.

The fact is, Philips Blue Visions were the best performing blue tinted bulbs there, and even then, they had less output than the non-tinted Vision Plus. That's as good as you're gonna get in a blue bulb, since the tint on them is extremely light (the light is still yellowish outside the car). All these PIAA, MTEC, APC, Hiper, etc bulbs use much darker tint, and if you think they're better in quality then Philips, then . Not even major brands like GE, Osram/Sylvania, or Hella were even close to Philips' quality. BTW, all the blue bulbs in the test had either "blue" or "white" in their names.

Yes, red is illegal on the front of the car. But I'm so damn curious why they would even make them, I'm convinced that they must not be pure red at night. I'm testing them out on my own car because I don't expect anyone else to be dumb enough to try it. I'll probably order the same bulbs in the blue hue at the same time, just in case.

LOL, if it's illegal to drive around with blue bulbs, yet the companies still make them, what's gonna stop them from making illegal red bulbs? They don't care, they just want money.

I can give a true statement to the MTEC burn out. Yes they burn out. Period. I don't care of this talk from Isaac about don't touch the bulb with your finger oil or the bulb to any thing else. You people don't realize that this goes for the same stock bulbs in all are headlights. I have been hearing this since I owned a Toyota in the early 90's. I have been more especially carefull with the MTEC's. Yet they still have blown on me and I wear gloves and don't scratch them and don't use my headlights 24/7 that it should matter. I have blown one of my fogs and one of my low beams in less than 6 months. The high beams are on all the time and haven't let up yet and they are the hardest to repalce except for the fogs. So what's up with that Isaac? You're pushing a cheap product that looks good, is no good for performance, and won't last in the long run. I keep buying them for those facts (as some here probably ar also), I can afford it (super cheap), looks good, and I don't need it for racing anymore, because I don't. I know you are trying to make a dollar to keep the site running and sell a good product to the other Celica owners, that it's just not as good as you think. Other than that, be honest and tell the people what the are getting in for. My other posts speak for themselves as the others.

I speak from my own expierence... my headlight bulbs (which are MTEC) have lasted since i first installed them - my MTEC high beams have been installed for almost 2 years now. My fogs which were PIAA that had been installed for 2 years, one of them burn out so I replaced them with MTEC - the driver's side was hit by road debris and cracked the enclosure - needless to be said, that bulb also needed to be replaced with a second MTEC bulb (not due to poor design, but due to road debris) I have had these bulbs installed without a single problem Again, I stand by what I had written in this thread a few days ago... WOW ... out of the 200 to 300 sets of MTEC Bulbs that we sell on ecelica each month (not including all the hundreds of ebay MTEC sales that others do), only a few people have said anything about their burn-outs in comparison (thats an incredibly small ratio) Its interesting though that most people only have problems with their LEFT SIDE bulb burning out... the last time I checked, there was not a specific LEFT vs RIGHT printed to each bulb - it's just simply picking a bulb and installing to whichever side you choose to install it to. This just proves that many people have a hard time installing bulbs (ANY BRAND) to the LEFT SIDE of their Celica I too have had problems installing and had blown a few bulbs - but this was several years ago... long before MTEC was available and I had been using SHOWOFF Brand Bulbs. Once I learned how to correctly install the bulbs, I didn't have a single burn out with SHOWOFF for an entire year - At which time, I upgraded to MTEC. It's been since September 2002 that I've had my current set of MTEC H7 and 9005 Bulbs installed If you were at this event... https://celicahobby.com/gal3/20020922 - you probably watched me change/upgrade them from SHOWOFF to MTEC... they've been running strong ever since

I've also added NOKYA Brand bulbs back into the store so people can judge for themselves which brand between these two is best - and put an end all to end bogus claims... BTW - Have you searched other car forums for their response on the MTEC brands? No one on the HONDA/ACURA/FORD/MITSUBISHI forums is complaining about these bulbs... http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&q=mtec+bulb+burn+outwhy is it that just a few Celica owners are flaming - and by looking at who those few are, they are all the same few, small clich

It's rather funny. I can find the humor in this. After installing my MTEC's for the first time never scratching or touching anything my left low beam bulb went out several months later. I ordered that same low beam bulbs and installed them with extreme caution like before and like playing the game Operation. I was content to see my headlights full again until the next day my other low beam went. I was telling my friend at least I have a fog and a low beam replacement. Not any more.
