ok here is the dl... i work at Toyota... by the way our Toyota dealer ship has a outstanding customer satisfaction grade... also we sell more then any other dealer ship around. The celica gt is slow... its for looks... i do like the gt because its cheap and looks really good. the gts is for a hard driver... someone that likes to get some where fast. The gts also is very very dependable. You want have any problems as long as you know how to drive. Yes i did blow my engine once due to a very very bad miss shift, but the block was still good... the head was gone. I crank it out to about 12 grand the mechanic said... he told me that motor compared to the gt was so much greater. I also did break a lift bolt... due to the 12 grand but only one... Yes all the other cars that have the 2zz in it are slower because of different intake manifolds and throtlledbody. You got to know your car and drive right... Also you don't have to redline it to land in lift i can shift at 78000rpm and land in lift fine. The gts is great hold out and wait untill you find a unmodified gts because you can lots of cars. (unmodified) i work for Toyota i should know and if im wrong pm me... either i will say im wrong or email the right answer i do have 1000 page book about Toyota cars. If i made anyone made that owe a gt... im sorry it is a great car to turbo and if it makes you feel better i have been beaten by a few (modified) the celica is great car anyway you look at it. Hey anyways its a Toyota it will live forever.

i'de say it depends on your financial ability. If your going to buy a GT and want to be faster than a GTS you might as well just spend the money on the GTS and get intake header exhaust. Im not sure on everyone else's future plans. My plan is to finish up school and fix up my celica and show it. Once i graduate and get a job with a masters in International Business then i plan on selling my celica and getting one of the following. Acura NSX, toyota Supra Twin turbo, or buy that infinity coming out in 2007 thats going to be the next nissan skyline. However if your not in school and don't have a financial future that will be lucrative i'de get the GT and build up the motor with a narly turbo and push like 20 pounds of boost. I never bought the GTS for going uber fast. I needed 1# reliability then #2 speed and fun then #3 styling looks. so what you should do is put a list of what you want in order. If you want speed more than reliability you should think about wrx's and evo's. actually the Skyline is the Infinity G35, its just called the skyline in Japan and the G35 in the states. kinda like the IS300 called an Altezza in Japan. although if Infinity is going to make a Skyline in the states in 07, i will def. look out for that

Get the GTS. I wouldnt dream of ever switching to a gt unless it was heavily turboed and I still dont trust turbos in our cars.
