Celica Forums General Discussion Exterior Plus sizing rotors

I know that AEM and PowerSlot have kits that use the factory calipers with relocation brackets to use larger rotors. I was thinking, how hard would it be to create my own mounting brackets? I could use a strong piece of aluminum or steel or something to make my own brackets. I was wondering if anyone has a good picture of the brackets used in either of these kits. Has anyone tried this? I figure doing this will prevent having to spend several hundred dollars. I know I would need to buy larger rotors that match the ones used in these kits.

I would say taking the chance with your brakes for a few hundred $ isn't worth it... just spend the money and be safe!!!

wouldn't try it unless you have experience in fabricating this type of thing. and you'd need a really thick peice like 1/2 in. you'd need to figure out measurements and how much further out the caliper needs to be based on current rotor size and new rotor size. You probably also want to have a plasma cutter. Cutting out brackets of 1/2 steel with a hacksaw would probably take an eternity. and I wouldn't try to build one off of a picture, if you can build a functioning bracket to mount your calipers for your rotors you won't need a picture. but like HJC said it's risky business messing with your breaks like that.

Well what I was thinking is that if I could find someone who has the brackets already, they could provide me with some nice pictures, measurements, etc. Then, I know people who work with metal for a living that could put me together something. I realize it's risky, but if you look at the AEM and Power Slot kit, there isn't anything to the adaptor.
