haha i think its funny that any acura dealership could act snobbish (not saying they don't..i just think its funny that they are)..it's a freakin rebadged honda. i like hondas more than toyotas but geez...its NOT a bmw or benz dealership..much less a ferrari one.

Yea they really were acting as if they were the almighty. I mean i love acura's, the tl is a spiffy ass car. But dont try to put me down when i am lookign at buying it. I would still consider getting an acura later on, just from another dealer Is the G35 really = skyline over there? figured it owuld jsut be 4 seater z

^^ the skyline is sold in both 2 door and 4 door r35 models in japan...over here there called the g35 sportscoupe and the g35 sports sedan. (they didn't sell the r34 versions in north america when they were in production)

they're thinking about bringing the gt-r version over here as well for '06

almost all cars are available in every developed country (there are a few exceptions..such as the scion tc, which is sold only in america)..they're just sold under different names..and sometimes different brand. westerners tend to associate with brands, eastern cultures tend to associate with usefulness. therefore whereas japanese would say "my toyota is better than your toyota because of this & that & this", an american would place an entire brand in one group--"my toyota is just as good as your toyota cause its a toyota" BUT "my lexus is better than your toyota because its a lexus".

thats obviously oversimplified but the basis is true. just think about it..practically everyone we know would rather drive a mercedes than a honda. thats because we associate mercedes as a higher class brand than honda..even though higher-end hondas easily beat lower-end mercedes in practically every category including power, handling, comfort, design, and features. but we'd still take the mercedes almost every time, even though it is less of a car in reality.

that goes hand in hand with what i said earlier..thats the reason lexus, infiniti, scion, and acura do not exist in japan...cause they could care less about what brand it is. it's what that particular car has to offer and thats the bottom line. here, we'd rather drive an acura than a honda or a lexus rather than a toyota..but its practically the same car. take off any body part on a lexus and it'll have toyota printed on it. same goes for acura & infiniti.

that's why lincolns are nothing but rebranded fords with a few more comfort features. same for most brands.

Maybe all those Honda haters are jealous of all the aftermarket support...or that Honda's are cars that actually LAST for years and years.

I have a 92 Accord with almost 160k miles on it, and with the exception of VERY minor changes/fixes, it runs awesome.

I am deff jealous of the aftermarket support hondas get. We have to buy everythign directly from japan where as from them, they get domestic and knockoffs all for cheaper. Hell is someone mad the c-one 03+ lip replica over here and sold it for ww price i woudl snatch that up in a hearbeat. Unfortunatly there are few celicas and probably only half mod them (other half are sorority girls that hit yoru car ) Oh well supply and demand

well , i hate mostly the drivers since they are assholes that think thier dx is a supercar, i dont specifically hate the car but for anything more than a to b cheap driving i would never think of buying one, and i am definately jealous that the aftermarket supports those so much, what about us? we paid more for our car so why not give us the option to better mod it? i dunno, i have yet to see a nicely modified local civic, i really dont even like a lot that i see in the magazines, but embarrasingly enough i do somewhat like the 06 si but not enough to buy it

you guys have to remember too... if the celica was in a reasonable price range... they would be just as bad as the civics... tons of kids buying them and ricing them out... the ONLY reason that people don't do that to the celica is because they're so expensive... which is also why there is less aftermarket support... because it doesn't make sense business-wise to provide a product with a small number of demand... (lesser demand in comparison to civics) take a look at most of the celicas... the majority of them are stock... i am the ONLY person within a 50 mile radius from where i live with a modded celica...

the only honda i would ever drive (test drive that is is an S2000) even in need for speed i would not touch the honda. The reason is IS because of the ricers out there and most are on the cheap civic. Oh, the style of the Celica is wayy better in my opinion. I like the look so much better, more creativity went into the celica then did the civic. Also, toyota is still number one (numero uno) in quality compared to any other car! oh, haundyai (spelling is way off i know i forgot how to spell it) is number 2 so is that!!

Oh and to Traviesa86, runforcover01 never said because he had a celica he knows about modding a car and that wasn't implied. What he said what that he didn't like the civics around him because they throw stickers on their car and act all fast. where the fuck did you get that because he has a celica he knows about modding...he never said that. Is it that you are pissed cause he doesn't like the civics near him because you have a honda??

its funny what people say when they are made lol, they make total asses of themselves cause they say shit that isn't true.

And with the after market support, the only reason that i see that honda civics have so much is cause they are the low end, inexpensive car and people were buying them so to make money, companies started making after market parts. Celica's are more money so less people can afford them so not as much support can go into them because companies will waste a lot of money since not as many people will buy the after market parts. Economics...people should know more about it.

I have a question though...what type of drivers of civics are near all of you? there are certain types around me..I mean near my school next to New Bedford and Fallriver...dont' take this the wrong way anybody but those two places are crap cities and don't have much money...so they rice them out. My thing is, save up, buy a nice car and then it will be better then a riced out crap car!And then save up more and buy nice things for the car! Is it a majority race that are ricers cause over here that is what it is so i want to see if it is like that everywhere. Thanks.

i think she was using the "celica modding" thing as an example... cause people are ACTING like the only people who buy civics are those who don't know how to mod... and she was just pointing out that it's not any different than a celica... just because you have a celica doesn't mean you know how to mod... and just because you buy a civic doesn't mean you don't know how to mod...

you can't compare cars to clothing because clothing has nothing to do with performance... and the smart car buyer when looking for a car does not only look for "style" but reliability and performance... with clothing you just look at "style" and maybe if you're like me... the feel of the fabric...

and again... you're saying you would never drive a honda/acura because you THINK the people who drive them think they're invincible... does that make much sense?? for one... how do you know what these people are thinking? and for two.. the celica would be THE SAME WAY... if it was cheaper... then people would be thinking because there was a toyota symbol on the front of your car that you think you're invincible... and that you don't even know how to drive your own car let alone think about what VVTL-i means...

My g/f drive a 98 honda civic ex STOCK w/ over 100,000miles on it with no problem My two best friend also own a modded civic w/ no engine upgrade, sticker everywhere, and 3 stock rim w/ one 18 white rim. I actually like civic when it modded right...but too bad a lot of civic owner think they're fast with their junky ebay body kit and their rims offer to them at car wash

Between my friends and family I have driven many Hondas and Acuras (almost bought a accord once) and I must say I have nothing against there cars. Its the dumb crap people do to them.

I hate on tasteless cars no matter the brand really, I've caught heat here for hatin on celicas. I can't let any parkbench go by unhated.

I had 2 Civic's and they are great cars and have excellent reliability. They are not the kind of cars you wanna dope out because it will cost you as much as you payed for the car, PERIOD.

And the turbo thing was just a huge misunderstanding of what i said about turbo cause i left one part out. He wasn't nice about how he said it but i kinda took it to heart so i responded badly. But i was j/k about the whole masshole thing.

I dont hate Honda or Acura at all. I like the S2000 and the RSX S. They are nice cars. My bigger bro has a manual 97 accord with a Vtec engine that he got from sum guy in Miami. That cars engine has had EVERYTHING done to it except body kit and either a turbo or SC. I bet its fast, but sadly he had to go to the middle east to fight so it will be sum time before I see his car runnin again.

I remember when I went to look for my Celica, the dealership kept tryin to sell me a Solara. The guy was like "Look at this hot lil car, PLUS its cheaper than the Celica and has more hp." then I said, "For the 3rd time, I said I came for a Celica, dont you DARE try and change my mind cause Ill just leave and go to another dealership." That shut him up pretty good. It turned out later that they didnt even HAVE a Celica on lot much less a GTS. SO I went 50 miles farther to another Toyota and saw my current baby. I grabbed her RIGHT before sum guy wit a cigar took here for himself. HE WAS PISSED that I got it 5 min before he did...I hope it wasnt one of you guys. For you N.O. plp, I got my Celica at Lakeside Toyota.

ok wow this thread is whacked, most of the new cars are low quality. The Celi it's a lot nicer than new Civics and I love my bucket of bolts. But come-on guys they just don't build them very well anymore, my 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 & 1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT-500 would rip this car a new hole, the horse power has gone down not up lol. I like just about any car except mini vans and some space ship looking cars, SUV's, to many damn mini vans and space ships on the road

Ok for real, I love this Celi I own, it's great but I doubt I will be buying a brand new car ever again. I paid cash for mine and it was the biggest pain in my ass. All dealers of every kind where aholes with a capital A, not a single one gave a darn or wanted to get the car I wanted, they just wanted to sell me something they had.

I wanted to see what the experience was like to buy a brand new car and it sucked. I had to threaten the dealer I got mine from to get them to take care of the preexisting problems. Yet I had a singed "We Owe" the day I purchased the car, that I finally got the money from. I got the car in September 2004 and just got the money to fix the preexisting problems in Feb 2005.

So I can say with 100% confidence that all dealers I dealt with are fin aholes. I could tell you all the dealers I dealt with and all the stories but I don't fell like it, you can find some on this site. But I can tell you one dealer Boddy Rahall gave me a better shake than anyone else and yet they where only doing warranty work, wth oh well maybe they would be the next place to go if someone wanted a new Toyota / Honda.

that's crazy... i've only ever been to one dealership... when i was looking to buy a new celica (before i got my wrecked one) and the dealer was really nice... my dad was there doin all the talking... and the dealer was going to find us the EXACT celica that i wanted and have it brought to the dealership for me... pretty cool... then i ended up finding my wrecked one for WAAAAY cheaper...

it all depends on the people at the dealership, some are nice and some are complete morons and aholes...just luck getting the good ones.

new car quality has gone down, in my opinion as well.

I kinda like the new 7th gen civics and the SI is not bad but in where I'm from crappily modded civics and integras are so common its a pain to see. Geez people buy like a front bumper from one place, a rear bumper from another place, sideskirts that look like they were stolen and then they don't get the thing painted.

This one guy at my school got a rear and front bumper for his Alero (I think its an oldsmobile) but no sideskirts so its unbalanced if you know what I mean. I first saw it since winterbreak and it has not yet been painted.

Jeez you think people would research how much it costs to paint a car or just a kit but they find out the kits are not painted when they buy them. Man, if only people could learn to use all the free knowledge around them.

^^^^ a guy at your school is pimpin out an Alero??? that's funny... my ex's Alero is a big piece of crap... he's got the biggest engine you can get in it... so it's got a LOT of power... fun to drive... but it's in the shop every month for something breakin

I agree with the fact that most civic drivers are a$$es. I think its because;
1. The drivers.
2. Most of them have annoying lawnmower/fartcan exhaust.
3. Stickers!!!!!!

I had a Del sol before my celica, and i loved it though! 250k+supercharger and still running like a champ.

Civics tuners usually want all three (well..., everyone wants all three), but only get the last two. We have a good amount of civic tuners here in Texas, and if you haven't driven here before, the driver's are usually horrible. They think they're fast just because they're going 90+ down the highway weaving in and out of traffic, it's rediculous.

I personally like Civics as long as they have a spoiler; especially the 1999 or 2000 SI's. I also like Acuras because they are well built and last forever like the Hondas. I have a couple of friends who swear by Honda. They've had a few Civics/Accords over 200,000+ miles with very little repairs done.

You can get power with a Honda, but it will take a motor swap and FI to make it somewhat decent. For example, my friend had a '92 Honda Accord and swapped in the H22 Prelude engine. Dropped him from 17's to 15's, I was at the track to see it. Nitrous took him into the 14's.

To make a long story short, it's mostly about the people that are bad tuners who make a bad name for Civics. They're a good car, you just have to tune them with good taste.
