Ok here is the problem, I am just about to buy a new car. I found a really nice 2000 celica GTS, but the problem is it didn't have leather or power sunroof. The leather is not a big deal because I can get them for 300-400, but the sunroof is going to cost me. There is no other celica in my area and I'm in need of a car. Its in excellent condition with TRD kit, 18" wheels, JL sub, Spectra blue. It looks really nice with only 41K miles. BUT IT DOESN'T HAVE SUNROOF!!
I personnel like the look of it. Cruising around with it tilt up a little. Its just looks nice, but I can live without it.
What do you guys think about sunroofs?

Too bad you don't live in Canada, where all the GTS models came with leather and sunroof standard...I think it changed in '04 though. They're nice and all but they decrease headroom and if they leak or start to malfunction they're just a pain in the ass.

dude look buy that celica. It sounds nice. Might have to drop alittle because trd kit sits high. But they are nice (sunroofs) but you will either find out it aint that hard to live with out or could found someone to do it for alittle bit. later Chad

Yea, the car looks exactly like yours GTScelica05, but in spectra blue with no spoiler with 18". The car is dropped about 2 inches.
Maybe The whole sunroof thing is just me, I might just need to grow out of it.

I have a sunroof on mine...one of the reasons I swapped out my old 2001 Celi LOL. I don't think it'll bother you not having one...just save up til you can get one...it's not an emergency to get it ASAP, ya know? Get that Celi, it needs a good home! Sounds like it's got quite a bit to offer, even without that sunroof! --Kristin

what I love of sunroof is the fact that the help your tinted windows go unnoticed by cops... (at least in daylight)...

I love my sunroof!!! When I bought my Celica brand new in 2000, I gave my extras wish list to the dealer, which included a sunroof. I love it because since I couldn't get a Celica in a convertible, a sunroof was a must. Mine hasn't leaked, but the tint has erroded. The extra wind noise you get doesn't really bother me. You gotta get what you want. Maybe wait until you find a Celica with a sunroof? Don't SETTLE...

screw the sunroof..worry about all the other good stuff on the celica..take it befor someone else does..
When I find myself in a position like this, I ask myself what would General Motors do? And then I do the opposite!

^ Celica sunroof is okay, but when the sunroof visor starts creaking and rattling it can get on your nerves.

The celica without a sunroof... is like a house without any windows.
I've grown to love sunroofs because it lets in more light & it gives in more air when you open up the windows, so makes cruisin' a lot more fun
My first car had a manual sunroof... not too bad & I was able to take out the glass to open up the top. My next car didn't have one. It felt a lot darker inside & not as open. Then I got my 2000 Celica with the sunroof... complete change. So I got my '04 Celica with sunroof as well... and every car from here on out will be with one. It makes hot days a lot more tolerable when you don't feel like using the a/c, and makes cruisin' a lot more fun overall.
The long of the short: Don't get a Celica unless it has a sunroof or you're willing to install one!

I love my moon roof ! I haven't had an open top car since the early 80's (a fully-loaded red 1981 4-spd Z-28 T-top with lots of engine and suspension mods) and I've missed the experience a lot. One time, though, driving at highway speed a bee got sucked around the windshield pillar and hit my left arm - I thought I'd been shot! Worse, the bee was still alive on the floor and mad ! Not an issue with the moon roof...and I find that it gives me psychological head room (which I need, being 6'2"). Closing the visor makes a big difference in the feel of the interior to me, not so much to the wife!

Wow I thought I was one of the few that loves sunroofs/moonroofs. All the cars that I used to own had a moon roof, and everywhere I went it was tilt up. It just gives the car a more sporty look. I guess its going to be a big change. I hope I don't regret this purchase. ITS SUCH A NICE CAR!!!!

I hate my sunroof for most of the year. But now its nice weather outside and i love it. Especially cruzing at night with sunroof open is amazing. Cold air keeps you awake. During winter i hate that i cant open it (too cold)

Well, if you can talk yourself into getting the Celica without a sunroof, then I suppose you ought to go for it.
I insisted on having a sunroof myself, however, and I generally use it instead of the air conditioner. The air conditioner isn't being constantly run then, and it will last a lot longer. I also just really like driving with the sunroof open.

Ok you guys I have been keeping something from all of you. The Celica that I was talking about is a turbocharged Celica boosting at 5-7PSI with 41k miles. It has TRD kit, 18" Tenzo R Passion 5, Lowered, Spectra blue, and all those little stuff (SS, Strut bar, etc.) It is going for 16500, but I dropped it down to 15000. The previos owner didn't race it at all. Claim it was for show only, so still running on stock clutch. I have to replace the clutch if I get it.
There is another one in my area. The one I was that has all the features I want. Absolute Red, SUNROOF, LEATHER, TRD exhaust, trd srpings, 65K miles, but no turbo. This one is going for 11000. So do you guys think a turbo is worth giving up for a sunroof?
I don't know what to choose. I really want to turbo one because it will give me respect and being proud of myself for owning a turbo car. I will probably learn more about turbos if I get.
Most of you here use the sunroof for add air, but I use it just for looks. I use my AC.

well... how much is a turbo??? couldn't you just buy the one you want and put the turbo in it for the extra $4000 you'd be spending anyways?

The turbo kit itself is going to cost roughly $3500 plus install about 1000+, boost gauges etc. Also comes with TRD kit, lowered and 18" tenzo R. So if I were to want that I would have to spend an extra 6-8k for it.

Thats the whole point, leather is nothing only 300-400 used, but its either sunroof or turbo. If I go turbo then there won't be no sunroof and the other way around. Because If I buy a N/A car then I prob won't get a turbo. But a turbo is so hard to give up for just a sunroof.

They're nice and all but they decrease headroom and if they leak or start to malfunction they're just a pain in the ass. Head room is a huge differance, on my moms '02 GTS without a sunroof there is plenty of room but on my '03 GTS there isn't much headroom at all. But having a sunroof or moonroof as they call it now a days is nice at times, it does add weight so if you plan on racing then it isn't a very helpfull thing to have. I imagine you could take the car to Toyota or some where and have a sunroof put in, may be a bit pricey though.
