Hi all,

First time poster --- and sorry this is probably a crazy question. Hoping someone would be able to share a photo of their 2005 Celica GT undercarriage from the trunk end so I can compare it to mine (attached). If another year is somewhat similar that's great too.

Long story short, I recently experienced a horrible can crushing metal squealing sound when starting my car. Catalytic converter thefts are really bad in my area now, so of course I looked under the car to see if anything appeared missing. This is where my memory goes bad.

Looking from behind, I could have SWORN I saw some kind of plastic cover or something covering the undercarriage where there is nothing but exposed metal parts and pieces now. Took the car in for repairs, (it was a water pump replacement), and when I looked under it now, what I thought I saw there before (plastic undercarriage covering ??) is not there.

Before I call them and say I think something's missing and they tell me I'm crazy, I wanted to come here first and share my photo and hopefully another owner and enthusiast can let me know if there is indeed some sort of covering missing. Something just does not look right to me now and I can't put my finger on it.

I know it's a bizarre question, but I don't like the repair shop where I went and if nothing is missing I won't have a need to go back. There would have been no need for them to be in the back end of the car for a water pump replacement, right?

Many thanks in advance for your help --
Mo

Splash guards (plastic) is only in the front of the celica undercarriage, and in the front wheel wells. the rear is mainly just sheet metal, especially near the hot exhaust piping. there also is no plastic within the rear wheel wells.

Awesome --- THANK YOU! I had the same feeling about plastic/hot exhaust, but really felt like something was missing or just didn't look right from when I looked earlier. Didn't want to go back to that shop if I didn't have to!

Huge thanks for your help!
