this might be stupid but...Does the trunk stay up?... They installed a trd replica on mine and the spoiler makes the trunk so heavy it falls down. any way to keep it up with out using a stick?

with an authentic trd wing that doesn't happen.

The only thing I could suggest is try replacing the shocks that hold up the rear hatch.. maybe yours are shot. Other than that, idunno

the outside will almost always like normal, the insides of the shocks can be broken without the outsides being damaged

There are three different types of Liftgate/Trunk Support Assembly (shocks)...

WITHOUT SPOILER (economy/weakest)

WITH SPOILER (standard)...
I have these with my Kaminari spoiler - they work just fine in California's warm climate (cold/damp weather seems to give it a bit of troubles staying up though)

WITH SPOILER & WITH REAR WIPER (luxury/strongest)...
this is also the set that comes standard when you purchase the Action Package (aka TRD) Spoiler

Each shock is about $115 (Set is $230 grin)

The part number is listed on the outside of your Liftgate/Trunk Support Assembly (shocks), if you feel like double-checking which ones you have installed happywink

Check item 5

I don't think anything is wrong, he probably just had the economy shocks and they can't handle the added weight. Time to upgrade! thumbsup

Did your car come with a stock spoiler? If it did and its still under warranty take it to the dealer and just tell them that your hatch wont stay up. Dont mention the after market spoiler unless they bring it up. Yes they will see it but they may not say anything unless you bring it up. I had a problem with my supports and the service rep said that its a common problem and replaced them with no questions asked. I havent seen a TSB on this but like I said the rep seemed very well aware of this problem. The ones they put on were noticeably stronger. Part No. 68960-20240. Just my .02

i had those shock replacements with my TRD wing. At first i couldnt understand why coz all our celis here come standard with spoilers and the TRD wing wasnt that much heavier than the standard one (or at least i thought). But i guess it all makes sense now. lol.
