Damn, If I go turbo I gotta jack my car up and get my hands all cut to hell again jsut trying to get that damn header out. Hmm... There has to be some way to crank out more power on the supercharger!!!
I mean shit only 199!!!! damn!
ANyone know if I need to idle my car for about 5 min after driving it to keep the oil from cookin in there like a turbo charger?
I wondering on longetivity(if thats even a word) whcih one will last longer, and which one puts forth more work on the engine.
Turbo more risk b ecause you will most likly need an oil cooler with the added circulation of oil through the turbine etc... well I guess It wouldn't bug me because I am uppin my internals, upgrading clutch and flywheel, and changin out the radiator and addin an oil cooler.
HEY if I am goonna go forced, might as go all the waY!

the 199 posted above will probably be higher (although probably not much more higher) because the tested model had an ecu properly tunred for japenese 100 octane gas but blitz will retuen the ecu for the american market...so the gains will be higher almost definately.

you do not need to idle your car..you get power from the start. you also do not need to idle down your car, either.

as far as longevity is conerned..no one quite knows. both products have just recently been introduced.

Jason asked me to post here...

1 guy on my team (DS*R) has the XS turbo (Smaay) and one has the Trial installed blitz SC (GNES100)

Smaay runs a 13.5 1/4 GNES can't get below 14 and is running about the same times as our faster NA GTS guys. Moral of the story? Turbo > S/C

If they were autocrossing it would probably be a different story but for street / strip the turbo owns.

Oh - Trial also did a pretty crappy job on the tuning. The had lift engage set so low it was bogging the car and they have the fuel all messed up to where GNES100 is having some pretty bad problems with knock and retarded timing. Plus without DRs the Celica's already shoddy traction is made a lot worse. due to the improved low end.

I would talk to GNES and Smaay and get their opinions - they would know better than anyone.

i wonder if the bad install had to do with the bad times he has been having.

in any case, yes..the turbo will give you more power and thus better times than the supercharger.

and, as mentioned earlier..the are both pretty much the same price.

The install probably has everything to do with the crappy times.

Also the fact that the Celica is traction challenged in stock mode as a GTS doesn't help either when you toss a bunch more low end torque at it. Then again he hasn't run on DRs yet that I am aware of so its hard to say. I have driven the SC car and its def. a lot stronger on the bottom end than a stock GTS, and the top end feels a little better. I have ridden in Smaays, and it felt even stronger still. Too much time seperated the 2 events to really give a greatly acurate comparison though.

thanks for the info thumbsup

i wish we could put a good put up #'s for a good install on the blitz. i would guess we'll eventually have them as it stays in the market.

ANyone know where I could get a Forced control tuned properly for either the supercharger or the turbo so it could be running at its best?
I mean shit its all in the chip from what it sounds like? I wanna crank up the boost on the super.
Your friend was slower with the supercharger on than with it off? how could that be?
How does it run now?

Its runs a bit better than a stock GTS, but hes still not tuned properly so there could be a lot more potential.

It'll be pretty hard to turn up the boost on the SC though without finding someone to make you a custom undersized pulley, which will cost $$$$$

just some info..to quote mike (lucky_317) in response to a question i asked about why the xs engineering turbo wouldn't work with the '03 celica gts':

"drive by wire.

also let me throw out my teamates have been VERY UNHAPPY with XS and that turbo. I really wouldnt advise ANYBODY to get one. many things go wrong and break. also you can get anywhere from 260 - 220 whp. thats NOTHING considering the cost. for that much money in N/A mods I bet you'd see more HP.

also don't drag your auto its awaste of time. save you r money and either get a 6spd or a diff car."

seeing as mike is pretty much our resident racing guru (along with illusive), i figured what he said was relevant to this topic and seeing his experience with racing, the comment should be taken to heart. thumbsup

alright that tears it, I have been weighin out the pros and cvons and I am goin supercharger for sure. Sure the power number may be lower, but I'll get a custom exhaust etc to boost up the numbers, and a new flywheel and clutch shouldn't be to shabby, also it seems more reliable. Hopefuly I'll be inj the mid 13's

if i get a SC, can I just install it as it is and not mess with the tuning? just basically it's just plug and play right? and if i don't mess with the tuning, then how much HP do you think it will be pushing at the wheels?

^^ depends on the supercharger, but you do need to tune, i heard you can mess stuff up otherwise, plus you won't get nearly as much HP, and i think if you get a SC you want as much as possible for the money

In my own opinion superchargers are for domestic cars. But whatever gets you those extra horses right? Well, i've always been on X-S's side when it comes to their kit. I will agree that their installation is kinda hasted, but then again they do a lot of work up there. I'm going to buy the XS turbo kit, but get it installed elsewhere. You guys can read up on the site and get your own opinion. www.xs-engineering.com [xs-engineering.com] thumbsup
