for 300 more you could get new 17 inch rims and tires from www.wheelmax.com [wheelmax.com] if you wanna save your money for a tid bit of time, but it would deffinetly look good, especially if you have the GT rims, just the thing is, there super hard to keep clean

ide recomend you paint them yourself, and use that 200 and save some more, and eventually get nice aftermarket rims

For sure just prime and paint them yourself. Spray some clearcoat on after if you feel like it. Total cost will be like $35 for supplies, and you can save the cash until you can afford new rims. Cheap 17" rims would only be like $500-$700.

That's not a bad idea at all. Maybe I should try that on my stock rims, they're just sitting in the closet.

get spray primer, spray wheel paint, and normal clear coat, and 300-400grit sand paper

sand down the wheels to get the clearcoat off of them, and give the primer something to attatch to, then i put 1 real light coat of primer, sanded that, then a normal coat of primer over that, and sanded till it was perfectly smooth.

then i applied 1 light coat, and 2 normal coats of paint, then 2 coats of clear

BTW: the spray can will say how long to wait to spray anything ontop of the paint, which includes more coats of the paint

EDIT: to keep paint off the tires i put cards between the rim & tire. that worked real good. and when you are spraying the paint/primer/clear, make sure you start spraying before your close to the rim, and make everything even

I had to redo one rim, kuz i started spraying on the rim instead of spraying away, and moving the spray across

I think it depends on the color car. I think white on blue or red looks sick. It doesn't look as good on a white car, and it looks fugly on black, silver or yellow most the time.

maybe I'll try black. that would be kinda cool, having da rim match the tires.

Any suggestions on brand of can spray paint? I used that high temp stuff on my calipers, worked well. I used it on my muffler too and so far it's protected the muffler pretty well too in the salt.

So if we do the paint job ourselves what's the quality gonna be like?

Say you're mechanically inclined, how long is the paint gonna last?
