Hey All,
I am a young Celica enthusiast as I recently got a 7th gen. After some driving, I realized the lift was not engaging and did a little research. This led me to check the Lift Bolts and well the intake lift bolt was broken. I have done a lot of forum reading and YouTube digging and am officially at a loss for ideas. Unlike many threads I have read, my bolt has not only snapped but the shaft that bottom of the bolt sits in has rotated. (Rotated in the direction of the rear bumper.) I finally found a step-by-step addressing this exact situation. (This will be the link below.) The instructions involve removing the intake cam and lift actuator and then hammering the shaft from the lift actuator side so that the end of the shaft containing the broken piece of the lift bolt goes out from the timing chain side. Unfortunately, this did not solve my issue. It seems my bolt still has a few threads (In the instructions, his is flush with the shaft.) that are not allowing the shaft to "tap" out as the instructions say. I am afraid to hit it too much/hard in fear of warping the shaft and also scratching the inside with the bolt as it is forced out. I am at a loss for what to do to remove this broken piece of the intake bolt. I will attach an image and also the link of to the directions I was following. If anybody has insight on how I can fix this I will be extremely grateful!
