Hi, I’m considering selling a 1974 Toyota Celica GT that’s been in our family for ~40 years. It currently needs a new battery, spark plugs, and inflated tires, but otherwise is in good shape. Any recommendations on a fair asking price? Pictures attached. Thanks in advance!

Re: Speaker Harness 4 Pin Part #

I've got an update regarding my speaker situation. It's not worth to look for those harness, you can re-use them when wiring and soldering your new speakers, but honestly, just directly wire it, much easier to do if you know what you're doing.

Re: Tail lights always on

I had this problem. There is a switch behind the brake pedal that is activated when your foot is not on the brake. When you press the brake it releases the switch which activates the brake lights. After testing the switch it worked just fine. But what I noticed, where the switch touches the actual brake pedal, there was a small plastic pad that pushed into the back of the pedal that was missing. … EXPAND ▼ Wasnt actually missing, just dry-rotted and broken and laying on the floor under the pedal. Mine was dark green color and I saw it days before I realized the lights were staying on.
Parts were cheap and an easy fix
Good luck COLLAPSE ▲

Intake Lift Bolt Broken, Shaft Rotated, Please Help
Zach
Mar 17, 2025 12:47am
Hey All, I am a young Celica enthusiast as I recently got a 7th gen. After some driving, I realized the lift was not engaging and did a little research. This led me to check the Lift Bolts and well the intake lift bolt was broken. I have done a lot of forum reading and YouTube digging and am officially at a loss for ideas. Unlike many threads I have read, my bolt has not only snapped but the shaft … EXPAND ▼ that bottom of the bolt sits in has rotated. (Rotated in the direction of the rear bumper.) I finally found a step-by-step addressing this exact situation. (This will be the link below.) The instructions involve removing the intake cam and lift actuator and then hammering the shaft from the lift actuator side so that the end of the shaft containing the broken piece of the lift bolt goes out from the timing chain side. Unfortunately, this did not solve my issue. It seems my bolt still has a few threads (In the instructions, his is flush with the shaft.) that are not allowing the shaft to "tap" out as the instructions say. I am afraid to hit it too much/hard in fear of warping the shaft and also scratching the inside with the bolt as it is forced out. I am at a loss for what to do to remove this broken piece of the intake bolt. I will attach an image and also the link of to the directions I was following. If anybody has insight on how I can fix this I will be extremely grateful!

Is my engine toast?
BlueMagoo
Mar 14, 2025 1:14am
I have here a 93' Celica ST with a second gen 4AFE. Over the course of a few drives this metallic grating sound became louder. When the noise started getting more concerning I checked the oil and it was at the "low" line. I refilled it, and it sounded better. I changed the oil and filter and the noise was quieter, but still there; and every time I start the car it is louder. I dropped the oil pan … EXPAND ▼ to see if there is any bearing material, but there is no sign, not a speck of metal flake in the engine or oil, so the crank/ rod bearings haven't been spun. I found that the A/C Idler pulley is slightly loose, but I'm not so certain that it's the source of the noise. At this point I'm not really sure what it is. My concern is damage to the valves/ cams as that is the last place in the engine that the oil travels to.
Take a listen.

Tail lights always on
JARRISON
Mar 7, 2025 1:27pm
I bought this 1990 Celica GTS used and all my exterior lights stay on when the engine is running except the head lights while the switch is off. Is this normal for this model? My cluster lights are also on when the engine is running. I checked my hand break switch is ok.
