this is seriously what i recomend to you. since youve had a crash already, and your insurance has gone up because of that and you just got this 60 in a 30 ticket i will garantee you that your insurer is going to kick you off their plan, and if you try and get insurance anywhere else it will be an INSANELY large amount each month. so what i would do if i were you is sell your car, and buy a motorcycle. with motorcycles (at least in my state) you dont need insurance, so you will be saving thousands of dollars a year, and when it rains, well too bad, just buy a full motorcycle suit. and then after 3 years when your tickets are off your record buy another car im sorry man, i know you didnt ever expect to get a ticket like that. i hope everything doesnt turn out as bad as they can. good luck I live in Missouri, and my insurance agent wouldn't even carry me if I got a motorcycle. It would have costed me more to drive a motorcycle than the Celica. Anyways, get a lawyer. You can get one for as low as $50, but he may charge more if you have priors or because you were going hella fast. From past experience, at least in Missouri, the fine for speeding is around $10 per every mile per hour you were over the speed limit. So in your case that's about $300 + let's say $70 for the lawyer to amend it + $40 court fees, you are looking at over $400 you will have to pay. Except in one instance where I got a 96 in a 60, I had to pay over $600 to get it all taken care of, and the $600 was just the fine for the ticket including court costs.

I would think that it's safe to say that you're in trouble.
1. You will be cited for reckless driving and have to pay the fine
2. Your insurance premiums will skyrocket, expect at least double beacuse the insurance company will classify you as a highly unsafe driver
3. You will be cited for speeding and have to pay the fine
4. Your insurance premiums will skyrocket. Again.
5. You will have enough points on your license that one more slip up in the next 5 years will result in a suspended license and a complete loss of all insurance
Play your cards carefully; another mistake and you will be in financial and legal trouble.

I don't see why you guys don't get a lawyer to amend the ticket into a non-moving violation. No points on your license and your insurance company won't find out about it which means that your rates won't go up.
Nuff said.

you are very lucky..in va if you are "caught" doing more than twice the speed limit in a zone over 35 (i.e. 76 in a 35) the cop can impound your car, take you to jail for "intentions of vehicular manslaughter", send your license to dmv for up to a years suspension, and give you a reckless driving summons...speeding just isn't worth it...good luck in court...

I can understand going maybe ten or twenty over the limit, especially on the highway, but 75 in a 30?

Uh...
I'll go out on a limb and say that if he actually wrote you up for that speed, you wouldn't have been much worse off just running from the cop. not true, the way it is he will have a criminal traffic ticket if he ran it would have been a felony
