Hi, my trunk was falling down when I installed my aftermarket spoiler(Kaminari). And now(Winter),the trunk shocks are completely dead. When I went to Toyota Dealer for the replacement of shock, they got a new set for me,but they said it didn't work after they replaced it because the spoiler was too heavy. It was not under the warrenty. For those people who had TRD wings, did you have the same problems? Anyone have the part No. of TRD(Action package)'s shock? Thanks.

Yeah I have the same problems when the shocks are cold. Once they get warm though, they work no problems. I got the Kaminari too.

You need the upgraded shocks from the toyota dealer. If your car came without a spoiler or with the oem style spoiler, it has the lower grade shocks installed.

Simple fix, call your local parts dept.

My car came with rear spoiler and rear wiper. So, the shocks were the strongest available from Toyota. The Kam wing is simply too heavy.

Hahah... speaking of Isaac. I know his "little fix". grin

Mine came with OEM spoiler and wiper too. When I showed the part No. to them, they said that's the one they ordered it(68950-18108,and 68960-80063) which it still didn't work, are these shocks for TRD Action Package?

Need to lose some weight? You could always cosider a Carbon Fiber trunk, not really my style but that WOULD solve your problem.

This is a well known problem. I have the same. Here in Holland the dealer replaces the shocks if necessary under warrenty. Unfortunetaly I didn't buy my spoiler at Toyota's so I had to solve this problem myself. And today I actually did.

I bought the wings west when it first came out and my shocks went bad quick. Even when it was warm they didnt work. Thank god I got rid of that spoiler. My hatch raddles when I go over bumps on the road too. Ive gone in and tightend all the bolts, but it didnt help.

on the weekends i "recharge" my shocks by heating them and the gases inside with a blow dryer, it increases the pressure and keeps them holding up my hatch through the week, its the cheapest fix, i know there is a way of taking them off and charging the gas up (such as the fre-on, in the ac) but im just to lazy... and i need the shocks through out the week.

I bought them here in Holland. But I'm sure they make similar shock over there too. I have a Poster rear spoiler.
I just installed them yesterday, but I'm very happy with these shocks. It was a little work because you have to saw off the mounting of the original shock. Drill a hole and make thread in it. I don't know exactly how to explain it, but I'm sure the first picture will tell the story.
The trunk stays open and I really have to use some power to close it now.

Yes, they do. Try local auto parts stores or tuner stores in your area.. they aren't too hard to find.
