I have these weird little spots in my paint on my back bumper, some are white and other almost look like rust. These spots are clearly under the clearcoat, and are smooth to the touch. I was wondering how long does Toyota keep their paint job under warrantee? Should I got complain? I'll take a pic of the problem later...

unless it was a painting defect (which it most likely is NOT--although there is a small chance) toyota most likely won't cover to cost of fixing it. in any case, it may not even be rust--it can just be spots due to plant sap, acid rain, etc...i'd definately take a trip to autozone, pepboys, or another auto parts store and get a mother's clay bar. try using this to get the spots up...9 times out of 10 it'll do the job when it comes to paint

I've had this problem since day 1 of owning my car. We don't have acid rain or anything like that here...and its only on my bumpers.

I've had this problem since day 1 of owning my car. We don't have acid rain or anything like that here...and its only on my bumpers. did you buy your car used? if you boght it new and it came like that then you'd have to prove that it came of the lot like that (difficult). since the problem is only on your bumpers, my guess would be that it's bug splatter (hence used). i have this problem with my celica (and it may be your problem as well)..for some reason almost anything tends to stick to the celicas paint in an unnatural way (it just gets gooey and spotty if you don't wash it regularly faster than what i've experienced with any other car). i would still get a mother's clay bar--it's pretty cheap and its worth a try. like i said it's most probably bug splatter so it'll come off. your bug splatter will still feel smooth to the touch (since i assume you've washed your car numerous times), but that doesnt mean its beneath the clearcoat.

it must be stuffs on the road damaging ur paint or as speed posted. its harder to convince them somethings wrong when its the bumpers. do you have a body kit or did you have it painted somewhere else? like everyone said, try claybar, if doesnt work and its worth to take a shot and take it to the dealer and get ready for some ridiculous comments. "how come ur car has a hoodscoop, celicas dont have one." "what car is this? never seen it before, 2 door corola?"

paint is not covered under any warranty, unless you can prove the car was NEVER outside (as in, kept inside all the time)
Acts of God/Nature are not covered

Well, I took my car to Toyota today...They washed, buffed, and waxed my bumper (im really only bothered by my back bumper, the front one isn't bad) and the spots didn't come out. They called 2 bodyshop guys to come out and look at it, and both agreed it needed to be re-painted. The only person who didn't agree that it needed to be repainted was the manager she really pissed me off. She wouldn't even give me the paperwork to fill out so the toyota rep. can come look at the problem
