Most of the noise comes from the B.O.V, however, a considerable amount of noise also comes from the turbo itself. Another option might be to use a good amount of thermal insulation which might lower the level, but it doesn't look very attractive.

Knowing the path and choosing the path are two different things.

If you want to present a "sleeper" image just keep the exterior of your car plain. That's going to be easier and less $$ than trying to keep your engine quiet (turbo or not)

It'll be quite hard to keep a turbo kit quiet since most turbo kits were designed for high performance.
High performance ususally isn't quiet. You'll need a stock or stock-like muffler like maybe a muffler off of a stock turbo vehicle.
You'll also need a stock-like intake and not these free flowing intake filters on CAI/SRI.
As for the thermal insulation. Who cares if it doesn't look attractive. With the placement of our engines, you'll never notice it's there unless you get on the side of the engine bay and look deep down there.

Get a diverter valve instead of the BOV valve it simply reduces the noise.

if you want a sleeper get a Ford Taurus SHO 5spd or other sleeper car.

The Celica isn't a sleeper, never will be. wink

I agree big time . I have GT auto with body kit and lowered. tinted windows and some cosmetic work. AS we all know the car isn't for speed, but hardly anyone tries to race me . Hence IT JUST LOOKS FAST!!! grin
Can never be taken for a sleeper. You want a sleeper buy a mazda 323 all wheel drive turbo. That car done right can pull some fast ones on most V8's thumbsup

Buying a piece of shit car with a good motor is the easy way out.

I don't recommend doing that because of one reason. That reason is that we are all celica enthusiasts. Being enthusiasts, we work with the celica's power plant and try to tune it for optimum performance. The buy anonther car argument just doesn't hold water.

Why put a body kit on a celica when body kit X looks so much better on car Y? Because we're celica enthusiasts and we work with the celica's OEM body to enhance it's aesthetics just like putting performance mods on the celica enhances it's game.
