Check it guys, I'm getting a custom mid pipe 2.5 ", High flow cat, eliminating the resonator all for $218. I think that is a reasonable price. I am getting it done tomorrow, I will post results tomorrow night or the weekend. I am also getting the Hotshot header (in a month or so, I hate internet shopping) I will have a fully aftermarket exhaust system. That should add a little more noise and power.
What should I do next? There is a rumor that Crower is coming out with cams in a few months for the 1zz motor. If its true, that is my next mod. It is between those cams and UR Pulleys. But I think that I am going to work on the appearance a little.

Well, guys I just got my High flow cat and 2.5" piping installed. It is so much louder and has a very nice tone. I love it. I also have the TSRM muffler and it kicks so much ass. Performance wise, my car feels slower but that is normal from a brand new catback. It will pick up. Peaceout.

Can't wait to get my Hothshot Header, then I will have a complete after market exhaust sytem. Well now I must go drive around to break it in. [ 03-28-2003, 12:06 PM: Message edited by: SpiderManGT ]

sup spider! i was thinking the same thing, getting a custom mid pipe..just a couple of quick questions, did you have to get rid of the resonator? how man cat converters do you have now? did it bolt on right after the stock cat? how loud is it now?

It is much louder right now, but a little high pitched, but that is because it isn't broke in yet. The reason I got it custom made, was to eliminate the resonator, I wanted the sound. Also I got a universal cat. I went to a muffler shop and they hooked me up with the cat and piping. They also cut a hole in it for the O2 sensor, its tight. I have one Cat and it is a carsound High-Flow convertor. If you have any questions, just let me know man. Peaceout.

Spider, with the resonator off (im guessing the resonator makes the sound not so loud) is there a big difference in sound and if so do you ever get pulled over because of it? I got the same TSRM from afsmotorsports and I was thinking of doing the same, just going to meinekee or something and telling them to just make a pipe. also about the cat, did you just replace it to have an all custom setup or is the new one better?

Blue Ice, The noise is much louder. The resonator acts like a glass pack to reduce sound. I have only had it done for 3 days. On the 2nd day, I sort of blew my motor, so its in my driveway waiting for Monday to go to the dealer. I passed a few cops, and they didn't say anything. As long as you are not acting stupid/obnoxious with it, you should be ok. I got a carsound High-Flow cat. It may feel slower when you first get it on, but once you break it in you will have a good increase. I recommend the header next, thats in the mail for me. Having a complete aftrermarket exhaust, I think you can get 20 hp. I will dyno after I get the header on and back from the shop. If you have any more question, just ask.

it was 238 total. They had to custom the pipe for the 02 sensor, that cost me 20. the cat piping and labor was 218. I think that is a good deal. Went to meineke and they said they couldn't do it. went to this other muffler shop and it took them just over an hour. Good luck man, post results.

what kind of pipe(metal) did they use, or do they all use the same kind? Also O2 sensor, might be a stupid question, measures O2 coming out of exhaust, is that connected to an alarm or indicator?

o2 sensor is important, it measures emissions. If it does not read the proper specifications, it will set off your Check engine light. They used Aluminized piping, probably one of the best ways to go. They can easily install a port for the o2, and it will take care that.

I just took it to the dealer yesterday. They said warranty may cover it, but the only way to know for sure is when they take apart the motor and see the damage I did. It also really sucks because I have the Hotshot header in the mail and some of bats overlays and Mtec bulbs and I can't put them on cause its in the shop. Thanks for asking though. Dan
