TORONTO, Sept 13,2002-Reuters reported that Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada Inc. will announce next week that it is boosting production at its Cambridge, Ontario auto plant, a company spokesman said on Friday.
Toyota spokesman Greig Mordue said the Canadian subsidiary of the Japanese auto giant plans to increase both production and staff at the plant in southwestern Ontario.

So here you go man. My folks spend 90K on their benz but its not from germany.

um, while not ALL toyotas are made in japan..last time i checked ALL celicas were.

just go look on your door panel bro (open your drivers side door, look at stickers)

mine says "MADE IN JAPAN" just like all other celicas i know of

yeah. like i was saying earlier..toyota is a GLOBAL car company with plants in MANY different countries. but each plant only makes 1 specific model (camry, sequia, celica, rav4...you get the point)

i'm pretty sure all celicas are made in japan.

the plant doesn't specify on one type of toyota it manufactores all types.

yep... check the VIN, if it starts with J its made in Japan... and assembled in Japan.

the labels "made in japan" "made in usa" "made in china" etc are where the cars were ASSEMBLED. for instance, if the usa made parts for a product but they were assembled in china, the product label would promptly read "made in china"--so saying, if a car says "made in japan" then that product was assembled in japan (celica, in this case).

and thats the way it has to be.

for instance, many cars are made with products from over 10 countries. since the PARTS were made in several different countries, would it be correct to say "made in usa, japan, chinda, taiwan, canda, etc...?) of course not...thats why the product label is ALWAYS where the product is assembled, regardless of where the individual parts come from.

"made in japan" means assembled in japan--so in effect all celicas are from japan, and have to be shipped to north america or anywhere else in the world

UMMM no its does not mean that. Think about it why is there JDM !!! parts becasue they come of celicas MADE IN JAPAN for the JAPANESE DOMESTIC MARKET!

no... JDM, the japanese domestic market means that the parts were made there and are intended to be sold there... thats why its hard to get JDM stuff and why its so expensive.

On one of the window stickers it talks about the "Assembly point" "parts" "point of final assembly"

All 7th Gen Toyota Celicas (that is, 00-04's) where produced and assembled 100% at the Shizuoka Plant in Japan.

Even Isaac's.

Port installed options, like security systems, mud flaps, etc can change that. However, the finally assembly point is Shizuoka, Japan.

So if you guys like to think that your cars were placed in big crates and shipped over from the land of the rising sun then go ahead, but don't tell your educated friends becasue they will piss themselves laughing.

Toyota is Japan based...
only some of the cars are built there, then imported here...but most are built in US, but get the parts from Japan.

Toyota has several plants in the United States, all for manufacturing Tundra's, Sienna's, Camry's, Corolla's, most of them...but ALL ENGINE parts are most likely from JAPAN...Toyota's are JAPAN based, not a US manufactured car..

The Celica is built in Japan, US Spec, then shipped here...my celica was on the boat on it's way over when I got it.

You know that could be true, but i can't believe that they would actually ship the celicas here from japan, the cost of that would be huge, and if they do that why don't we get the t.v. center, or the blacked out headlights?

Come live in Socal... if you are near Long Beach or PtHueme - you can see thousands of cars being unloaded from ships every day

BTW - when you get your brand new car and it has 5 to 10 miles already on it... how do you think those few miles were put on it??? it might have been driven around the block a few times at the dealership - but thats a lot of miles just to be driving around the block
