I just got a new Celica GT. It is my first car bought with my own money so I am being extra careful with the break in. I have heard that 1. It is better to do an oil change after the first 1500 miles. 2. It is better NOT to use synthetic oil for the first oil change http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm3. The manual says break in for only the first 1000 miles but I also heard it is better to do it until 3000 miles. Are they true? I would like to hear your opinion here. I do not plan to race my car but intend to keep my car for at least 4-5 years. Please share your experience with me. Thanks

change you'r oil between 1000 and 1500 miles and use a synthetic blend to replace the oil that in it. then after another 3k miles use whatever you'd like.

If its standard, I would shift at the recommended shift speeds for the first little while. No redlining yet!

My first oil change was at 6k miles there goes the 250,000 mile lifetime... it's down to 200,000 miles i bought my celicas used (so obviously i wasnt the first to change the oil)...but my when my bro bought his honda civic coupe (brand new) he was recommended NOT to change the oil for the first 5k miles...and then every 3k after that (unless using synthetic, in which case you can keep changing it every 5k) don't know what celi's are...but thats what honda's policy is (and i don't imagine it would be very much different)

Just follow the owners manual exactly this way if anything does happen then toyota has to fix it.
IT IS WHAT IT IS AND EVERYTHING IS EVERYTHING.
