I know this is going to sound stupid, but can a gts engine be put in a gt? I know that the gts is a 6 speed and a gt is only a 5 speed, but does that affect it at all? If anyone could tell me it would help...thanks

u have to have the 6speed to go with the gts engine. the 5speed wont fit. besides that, you have to get a gts 6speed ecu, so the 5speed wont work.

It has been said that it is easier to trade your GT in for a GTS

well if I get the ecu could i get it to fit? I wanna do it b/c (bear with me...i know nothing about engines) my rod bearings aren't good and I need to get them fixed which I guess are like on the bottom half of my engina and my car burns oil b/c of the cylinders or rings or something which I was told can be expensive and it the top half of my engine and so I was thinking of just getting a new engine...and since my insurance is so high on a gt I figured I could get a gts engine and my insurance company would never know.

It would be easier to rebuild your motor and "pump it up" I think. Call some local performance shops and get a quote (rebuild, high compression pistons, high performance cam). Then call some dismantlers for a qoute on a GTS engine, tranny, and ECU (and find a place that will install everything). I think it will be a lot less to build your engine. Good luck, Robert
