i want my hood/hoodscoop to look like this: a carbon fibre hood is out of my current price range (rims next). instead i was thinking of going to the scrap yard and finding an 02 black celica, taking the hood, slapping it onto my car, and add the silver raised hoodscoop. will save several hundred dollars, and i don't care for the carbon fibre look. what do you think?

idk, when i see cars like that, it makes them look unstylish and also makes it look like your hood was destroyed and you had a replacement on. Carbon Fiber would be sweet.

Some of the reason for the Carbon Fiber hood other than looks, is that most of them don't dent, and they are lighter than stock hoods.

whenever i see a nonblack car driving down the road with a black hood, i think, "whoa! carbon fiber hood, sweet!" but then if i later find out that its just a black hood, i feel tricked into giving praise where it isnt due. You should just save up for the carbon fiber hood, then your scheme would look good. And its like spiderman said, it drops a good amount of wait as well.

the carbon fiber are pretty light since they are made of fiberglass I think instead of whatever stock is made of. Usually need hood pins to hold them down, but not always.

Carbon fibre hood is not made of fiberglass... it's made of carbon fibre... It's a kind of fibre (very durable), and the manufacturer would put a clear coat on it. it's about 1/3 of the stock hood's weight.

Actually I belive some carbon fiber hoods are layered with a fiberglass resin underneath the carbon fiber. I actually watched the process on a video.

yea, the hood is fiber glass coated with carbon fiber. Carbon fiber is not a thick material, it's like a tight woven netting of whatever over the hood. i really don't know.
