Paid $2.30 per gallon today here in socal...what a load of shizzz. It cost me $31.24 to fill my tank. I almost kicked the pump after that raping with no lube. These prices are getting out of hand. What in the hell is causing it?

I have never in my entire life paid less than $30 to fill a tank of gas with any kind of compact car I've owned. Be thankful you don't live in Canada if you have a problem with high gas prices eek And we've got it relatively good in Alberta...the east coast gets raped all year round.

it's caused by OPEC. they cut production again.

demand, supply & price. since everyone with a car demands gas, all OPEC has to do is cut production (supply) & prices go up.

I've kinda made an effort in life to try not to complain about gas prices because of the sheer fact that my car needs gas to run and it sure as hell isn't going to run on Corona or Chocolate Milk, even though I've got a hell of a lot of that sitting in my fridge. It's a fact of life if you decide to drive and even if you walk everywhere you've got to buy some shoes...yadayada, etc. But yah, that sucks when the prices jump quite a bit so I feel ya there.

personally..i think if you depend upon something and that something isn't meeting your expectations, then you have a right to complain about it.

Exactly...like I actually do depend on Corona as part of a healthy balanced diet...but here in Canada it costs me like 12 dollars for a six pack or if I'm at a bar, $5 for one bottle of the Mexican goodness and there damn well better be a good lime in it. So yeah, I kinda complain about that I guess.

There are a TON of reasons why gas is up to like $2.35 out here in SoCal. First, there is the always-present fact that California requires unique additives to "reduce pollution" rolleyes, which increase the price compared to other states. Next, there is the fact that OPEC has cut production numerous times. Lastly, most (or all) of the oil refineries shut down to reduced capacity this time of year for repair. So besides having less oil, we have less places to process that oil now.

Damn, I still remember those $.90 prices a year or two ago. Those were sweet times. Next time that happens, I'm buying some beer kegs and filling up for later. spineyes

I give on bitching about it. $10 bucks used to buy me 150 miles. Now it's less than 125 miles. Soon, 100. $1 for 10 miles. Fuck that.

in socal the high cost is not being caused by OPEC. two gas refinery plants here in SoCal shut down which caused a shortage. the plants always say it was a unsheduled shutdown for maintenance or repair, and that is a load of crap.

ouch. actually that made the papers over here like a year or so ago (2 plants in cali shut down) anything refining always makes the papers over here cause we're loaded with refineries between here & baton rouge.
