I am planning to lower my car, probably with Hotchkis. But I heard that the ride sucks with spring or coilovers. I am looking to get some feedback on lowered rides.

My car might be slow, but at least it looks nice!

I have the eibach sportlines, and the ride is a little stiffer, but not too bad at all. Handles a lot better though.

adjustable strurts(koni) can let you choose between a hard or soft ride, also if you have rubber bands for tires(40 and below) that will make it ride rough

I've got the Ground Controls coilovers. They do get really bumpy here and there. The fun this is, you can take corners at a higher speed. thumbsup

agreed i get my ass kicked on theese damn small town roads, lowering your car is gonna interfere with the happy balance between ride/handling, you want handling and the agressive look, your gonna have to take some bumps, also about taking corners at higher speeds, watch out for pot holes thumbsdown

i thought i needed to adjust mine (b+g height adj coilovers) but based on what everyone is saying the bumpy feel is normal. either way, go with coilovers if you want perfect strut/spring balance. if your want it just for looks, mix and match. either way, ride quality will change.

TRD Strut/Spring Combo works well... if you're content with a modest drop, as I am thumbsup

go with springs & struts if you want the look & a smooth ride. If you want performance, it doesn't get any better than coilovers, but I would go with a 225/40 tire so that it'll be a little less stiff.

I have my car lowered by 2" on Tein coilovers. The damping on the stock suspension wasn't aggressive enough for me. From soft it feels like a stock settup. I have it towards hard and love it. The potholes are a problem. It isn't bouncy either. I love how the car sits back down instantly after going over a bump or dip. The 40 series tires are going to make it rougher. Just have to soften it up a bit.

www.Modacar.com [modacar.com] very low prices on springs.
Eibach Sportlines $185 !!!!! (1.8" Front Drop/ 2.4" Rear Drop )
P.S. Coil Overs are too bumpy...

i just got my hks springs installed with 225 40 18's and the ride is good, thought it was going to be way worse, the only thing was the drop wasnt enough for me, but took away gap and dont have to worry about hitting anywhere so i guess it came out good

I have trd struts and springs and the ride is good handling is excellent.
You can soften some of the bumps by lowering tire pressure which also helps handling, the risk is to your wheels if you hit a big pothole your finished or at least your wheel is I've seen this happen.

IT IS WHAT IT IS AND EVERYTHING IS EVERYTHING.
