if your options are to own a celica, or just lease a 350z, get the celica. At least then you can work on it.

I'd get the celica because you will be able to actually own it instead of lease. And you wont be able to mod the z if its leased..

performance wise the 350z kicks the celicas ass up and down the track. but it all depends on what you want. id go for the 350z but since your dads getting the car for you im pretty sure your a new driver and will probably kill your self in a 350z

Get the Z you and you and your dad will thank me for it. Don't like the lease do you? Limited miles and all that. Screw it up and let Nissan fix it for free. That sounds good. A 350 isn't even in the same class as a Celica. That sounds good. A Celica GT... you'll wish you took the lease or had a GTS. You'll spend every spare penny trying to make it a GTS or customized it to your liking only to get killed by the Z (the looks aren't bad either). Then when your 19 or 20 you will try to sell it and wish you didn't have those problems with losing your investments or seeing newer cars that come out rape the performance and looks of the Celica. Just lease the Z and forget it in a couple of years, and then buy a new car. You are lucky to even have the opportunity.

Who said you can't work on a leased vehicle? You can, just buy it out in the end or face the charges

There's no comparison unless you're really into the Celica.
No offence, but I'd pick the Z over a Celica any day...especially a GT.
You already drive a Celica...try out the Z and see how you feel.

Like everyone else said, if you're looking to mod, get an older Celica, and then...go hog wild. If you're just looking for straight performance / luxury, go for the 350. Oh, and like elec said, I'd take a gander at the G35C too!

er...350Z is a nono~ if you want to lease, get G35C! or just buy the celica GT~ seriously, i would get g35 over a 350z anytime. but i think a g35 is better for a 20yr old guy. in ur case, make the gt to a gts. and then think and see if you want to be in a long commitment of paying ur car. do you want to pay for the car for a lease and then just give it back? or do you want to buy the car after the lease is done? Im my opinion, i would get a gts over a 350z! why? 1. for gts you dont have to pay monthly if you buy a used one. anything from 10,000-14,000$ depending where you buying it from. as for the 350z, they have awesome deals on lease, but hey the car costs over 22,000$. 2. 4 cyl. vs. v6. yea v6 certainly has more power, but are you willing for the extra gas its gonna burn? especially the gas is going upto $3/gal. 3. im not sure about this, but a 350z maybe more expensive on the insurance maybe cz its 2 seater and more sportier. 4. get experienced with ur first car, cz you want to get a better one as soon as you gonna start making more money. but buy a manual. just think about it urself. it is awesome to own a 350z at ur age right now, almost a dream come true, it is possible, but think about everything ur gonna get, or make is gonna go mostly on ur car and ur not gonna have enough money to enjoy ur life. oh yea, if money is not an issue, delete my post

um. seriously . . . if he offered you a 350z or a celica gt . . . why are you even thinking about it? even if it is leave vs. buy??
the celica is an awesome car and i have tons of fun in mine, but it just doesnt compare to the z.

Look at it this way, if "daddy" is going to pay for all this now, odds are he'll pay for it in a few years, too. So go with the Z, it's a more expensive and much faster car.

I would get the Z! You can always buy out the lease at the end if you wanna keep it. I leased my celica, but that just becuase i know i dont keep cars more then 2 years.

i always prefer owning something instead of leasing it (at least it's more of an investment--if you can consider a car an investment).
however, the z would be VERY tempting. i know this doesnt help..but i can't offer you any recommendation. the owning a celica vs leasing a z is about as close a call as you can get.

I like the look of the RX-8 much better than the Z. I'm sure the Z probably has more hp and torque. But I'd rather my car look nicer

But I'd rather my car look nicer the rx-8 and z have very similar horsepoer and torque figures (the z has a slight advantage in both categories) although the performance of the z is much better due to being lighter (2 seater vs 4 seater). personally though, i can't stand the rx-8 styling. it's just plain weird looking and it doesnt look like anything flows. wheel wells bulge out too much.
