First off, you're gonna need more than $2000 if you're gonna go the way of the turbo. Same for a supercharger. If you go N/A (naturally aspirated=without NOS or FI)... You'll need CAI (cold air intake). Preferrably one made by Injen or AEM. Next you'll need a cat-back system. Kazuma has the best gains for a cat, but they're illegal. The next best would be the TRD system or the Tanabe Super Racing Medallion. After that, you can go with some small upgrades like AEM trupower pulley or hyper grounding kit. Unorthodox also makes a set of underdrive pulleys, but they're like $350. Headers can have a 11hp+ gain, but the quality ones are expensive. After all that, if it's still not fast enough. You can purchase a nitrous setup. You have to get a wet kit however, because our cars don't have return fuel rails. Only spray up to 60, anything more isn't really safe without stronger internals. Hope that helped.

Start with: CAI - AEM or Injen Exhasut - TRD or TSRM for performance then custom midpipe Header - Hotshot Cams - supposed to be coming out in the next few months from Crower Pulleys - AEM or Unorthodox
Then little things like a short shifter, then work on suspension.

how fast?
I think the realistic choice is... 1.new tire 2.driving school 3.intake, exhaust, recaro, etc...

Depends on what you mean by fast??? Top speed or Acceleration. For top speed air flow is key so go for a full intake/exhaust/header/downpipe (probably well over 2K for all though), and if you have cash left over a high flow cat.
For off the line, here is my opinion
First thing AEM or INJEN CAI. It Dramatically improved throttle response on the GT, and it will give you some power in second gear over stock. the MAIN gain I noticed is throttle response though, very nice
Then for better acceleration lighten your rims stock GT rims are Steel and are over 18lbs each, a good 12-14 pound rim will give a GT noticable acceleration. That will tap you out I think. (problem is you are gonna want to keep your tires, you can't afford to get new ones, so find a light 15x6.5 with a 5/100 bolt and just have the shop put your current rubber on the car). If you have cash left over, you can get a small low end torque gain from AEM pulleyes, not much, but you might notice it.
For 2K those are you best bets. If you end up with more cash then the TRD Exhaust, and a Hotshot a Header, you may lose some low end, but you will make it up in your 3rd gear.
I have the CAI, Rims going on soon, TRD exhaust, and I have pulleyes on the way. I am holding out on the header, because TRIAL posted huge gains for the GTS and I heard they were supposed to make a header for the GT soon (maybe a 4-2-1 so I can keep my low end torque).
There is no way in hell you will get forced induction for 2K, even when TRD figures out how to throw the Matrix supercharger into our engine bays, it will run well over 2K installed. [ 04-14-2003, 09:57 PM: Message edited by: FX-MAN ]
