all i got to say is huh?

your new tire is a little bit larger in circumfrence than the stock tire. will take more power to take off. so it will be slower in the 1/4, but will handle better because of the stiffer sidewall.

a 205/45r17 is the same diameter as a 205/50r16

ok,i meant to say that i want to make the wheel size biger..like 18"
but i'm afraid they won't fit
i was just asking if putting like 18" would affect or crash anything in the mecanic of the car
and if 18" would fit, what size could i chose without any problem to the car(without any modification to the suspensions)
thx

My celica is lowered 1.8" and has 215/35ZR 19's on it and I don't rub. So you should have no problem using an 18" rim.

you can put 18s on your celica without any suspension mods. (to answer your original question).

you can even put 19s--but i wouldn't recommend it.

however, when putting 18" & larger rims on, be VERY consistent with maintenance. your tranny will have to work a LOT harder to spin your much larger rims and therefore if you don't take proper care of your drivetrain your tranny will suffer quickly.

with 18s you should be able to drop your car up to 1.5" to 2" (depending on your tire) and still be able to drive around decently. thumbsup

i thought it was just the fact of somthing like that.

larger rims. . . while spinning takes less effort for the car. . larger revoltions. . harder to get them going

smaller rims. .. . while spinning take more effort for the car. .. . smaller revolutions. . . easy to get them going ..

?@!?@!? i could be absolutly talking out my ass too.. i dunno!?

That's mostly correct. 17's with a 40 series tire is pretty much the identical size of stock Celica's 15 wheels and tires. Not much difference. Revolutions are almost equal. So you also have to factor in the huge weight increase of larger tires and wheels unless you get super light weight wheels. I also could be talking out my ass. Everything sounds right today.

that is correct. (and also what i said the first time).

while it is harder to spin a larger diameter wheel, most of the stress comes from the increased weight of a bigger wheel (not so much as the tire--though that does have a smaller effect) thumbsup
