I am considering putting an INJEN CAI in my 2002 gt. I drive my car in the winter, (-10c to -20c), would a CAI be a bad idea?

I can't think of any problems you'd have. Except if it rains a lot. If it does rain a lot, get a bypass valve. I think they come with bypass valves anyway.

I've driven mine through some hard rain storms and snow storms with no problems. However, the bypass valve does not work on celicas. So do not buy one. Huge waste of money.

HEHE.. the talk of hyrdrolocking ALWAYS cracks me up.. the only way to hyrdrolock a CAI is to DRIVE THROUGH A HUGE DEEP ASS RIVER. You have to totally submerge the intake for it to suck up water. RAIN has nothing to do with it (unless you are talking about flooding, and even then just don't drive in over a foot of water, even guys with factory intakes can end up hydrolocked when you sink your car in a lake).
I live in vancouver BC, home of team celica (and a SHITLOAD of rain, seriously it rains everyday here, like seattle), and there are about 150 guys with dropped celicas with CAIs, not 1 of them has ended up with hydrolock. This whole fear over hyrdrolocking is something cooked up by guys trying to sell short rams. There is nothing to worry about, just dont dunk your front end under water and step on the gas.

You should be able to put a cold air intake, and no you can't have air "too cold". I have a friend here in Moncton who has a injen C.A.I. and never had a problem. We get lots of water on the roads in spring time. Of course once you put it on try to avoid deep puddles and reving your engine in those puddles as much as possible. Like other people have said you have to have your entire C.A.I submerged for hydrolock

I just cleaned my COI filter off. Damn, you should see the mound of dirt that came out. I didn't wash it, I just banged it against the ground a few times. I think Filters are only like 15-25 bucks, so I'll just buy another one.

at first i was worried about the vents in the wheel lineing. the cai sits right behind them and the tire flings water and mud right threw them and on the filter. still i have driven my car threw rain and snow for 2 years now and have had no problems.

thats NOT true! my friend hydrolocked his integra because of his cai and we live in texas and it doesnt exactly pour in texas. it was just regular rain.

Man my friend's got a focus with a cai. We jsut got a shit load of snow, and the filter was covered with water, slush, snow... except for one strip ( I gues I would call it) and he had no problems.
