Center Console Custom Lighting Using Neon Tube
By RoMkApOmKa @ EverythingCelica.com

I changed my A/C control lights long time ago but just got the pictures today. My friend was too busy to burn CD with picture for me. But finally I got it from him today.

1) I installed OPTX 6" neon tube in to A/C control console.
First (AFTER YOU TAKE THE FACE PLATE) modify this black frame. Cut this 2 plastic pieces. If you do not going to cut them off, Neon tube will not fit inside.

2 Then Connect Neon tube to adaptor (OPTX NEON comes with it). I placed the adaptor on the side of the shift compactor.

4 Put everything back.
P.S. When it's very cold outside it's takes 5-10 seconds for neon tube to light up(neon gas inside have to warm up).

5 And now the final picture! Here we go!
P.S.Sigaret lighter light will not change to blue, you have to replace the LED inside of the sigaret lighter.
P.S. Lights looks about 3 times brighter in person.

Yes, I painted everything my self.I spent around 10 days to do the whole painting proces.
Just do not rush and your painting will be good.
And here is the link on How to take the vents off:

May be the led bar, but led tubes... no way thumbsdown ,not bright at all.
At first I installed the Led (flex.) tube and it was not bright at all, so I change it to the neon tube.

In person you will see the red...well it's like more purpl red...
But you be able tell the difference between the Blue and Red w/o any problem.

Hey I agree it works pretty good. but I only used a three 3 inch tube and it seemed to fit a little easier. no cutting. I dunno just an idea, the results seems to be the same.

Next time when splicing wires, try Scotch Locks. They're basically a 3-way wire junction, and they just snap on.

If anyone still has the lightbulbs that used to light up the area behind the climate controls that the neon is now lighting up, I will buy 2 green bulbs that still work off of you. You can email me @ rem2088@yahoo.com or msg me on here.

Thanks.

if you'd take a gander at the picture, you'd realize the steering wheel is on the RIGHT side. It's a Japanese Celica, it's been looked it, and rewiring the entire system to accomodate the Jap dials is damn near impossible...unless you hold a master's degree in electrical engineering. rofl

If you cut the plug off of the lighter, then you can run the ground wire to any ground, then run a wire to a switch and then back to the fuse box and that way you can turn the neon on by turning the switch on and off.

since you are tapping into the cigarette lighter, the neon will not turn on, unless you have the parking lights (or headlights) on. just like at night, once the headlights are on, the cig lighter glows green.

no need for a switch, since your tapping into something that lights up when the lights are on.
