Earlier today, i was turning onto one of the busier streets in town, and a riced out civic turned into the lane next to me. Next thing i know, he's doing a ricer flyby (typical huh?). Thing of it is, we're only about 20 yards from the next intersection, and the civic is going around 50MPH (speed limit was 35). I didn't want anything to do with it, partly because it was a waste of my gas, and mostly because i don't race on the street. Then, without looking to make sure he had enough room, a guy in a big truck coming the opposite direction turned left in front of the civic. The driver of the civic hit his brakes, locked it up and slid into the truck, hitting it at probably around 30mph. The front of his car hit the truck between the two wheels, and went underneath the chassis up to the windshield. I was able to stop just fine, being that i was going the speed limit, and wasn't looking over at another car next to me. The two guysin the civic weren't wearing their seatbelts (it's not "cool" to wear a seatbelt in my town... i'm not cool), and they were both hurt pretty bad. I waited until the cops and everyone arrived, as did a couple of other witnesse (thank god). The cops tried to give me a wreckless endangerment ticket, as well as a street racing ticket, until the other people who saw it said that i was minding my own business. The two in the civic are in intensive care, one is in a coma.
Moral of this long ass story... DON'T BE STUPID
Keep your races on the track
Thanks for reading this, and i hope it will make you think twice before you are tempted to show the guys next to you on main street what's up.
This kind of thing happens way to f'ing often in my town. That one movie came out, and everyone of high school age in my town decided that they were fast and the furious shit, and started driving around like bats outta hell. There have been a grandmother and her two young grandchildren hospitalised as a result of street racing, three or four of them have rolled their cars, one drove his car off a 10 foot drop... it's crazy! The worst part is, this town has a bunch of oil-men in it that are willing to buy their kids expensive cars, the kind of cars that NO new driver should be given.
Why did the cops try to give you a wreckless endangerment ticket?
He's in the "it looks fast" car. The civic is a family car. If the civic was trying to street race, every cop is going to assume the sporty looking car that just happened to be next to it was also. Not fair at all, but that's how they think.
I'm just a crosshair I'm just a shot away from you

that movie shoulda never came out in theaters. shoulda came out on dvd like "the last race" too many ricers these days (sigh)
There have been a lot of accident out where i live involving street racing there was one just last Fri were some kid lost control and hit some power lines. I gave up street racing a long time ago when everyone started to drive like assholes...

everybody knows street racing is stupid, but so many of us are doing it. good example you have there. i wouldn't call this an accident like you did cause the 2 in the civic meant to race and slammed into a truck...their own doing...

I call it an accident because i doubt that the guy driving the civic intended to drive his car into a big ass truck.

I agree! The divers where I live are bad enough without that movie encouraging them further. Common sense people... please. If not for yourself then for someone else. I just found out a guy I went to school with was in a bad motorcycle accident a while back. The handle bars went into his body and actually tore out stomach and some of his other internal organs. He is...alright...now though, I actually ate dinner with him the other night, very nice guy. But he was racing when he had the accident.
That is horrible. Sad thing is I used to drive that way! I stopped when I let my 18yr old brother drive to manassas with me. He wasn't supposed to drive anywhere, but since I was following him I thought that it would be ok. He blew through a red light making a left hand turn...scared me to DEATH. Then I watched him goof off all the way down the road. He changed lanes WITHOUT looking pushed another car over...it was horrible!
I realized how important life is and that whatever you do effects someone else!
This was a GREAT post! Props for not doing that either! Glad to hear that you are okay
hmmm... need to upgrade brake..that civic, or every civic... u want go? you have to know how to stop first...
the first thing i mod on my car, i will never forget, the brakes...
when i was 15, i dreamed about having a car...and that time, the first thing came to me is that im goin to upgrade the brakes!cos i think those cross drilled brakes are cool...and i want to be able to stop faster.
i tell all my friends that dont race to see who can accele faster, but race to see who can decel faster~ and they all ignore me cos the result is obvious~
The same shit happened to me about 1 1/2 yrs ago. Except it was a riced out del sol and he approached an intersection with stopped cars in our lanes. To top that off we were both headed downhill so stopping was extra difficult. The delsol spun out after locking his brakes up and slid into a truck. the whole del sol then almost flipped. I didn't even care to stick around. I left and in order to do so I had to run over the drivers hat which flew off his head.
yup thats a good reason why...and i noticed all this occured at around the time f&f came out...main reason i stopped street racing...anything can happen...cops are so stupid
some crazy shit, carbon. Glad you're ok. This is gonna sound horrible, but I think they got what they deserved.. no seatbelts and street racing; it's their own fault.
we need to start something like those kids have with the STAND with cigarets but with street racing or something to get it through all of those kids heads that they need to keep it on the track not the street
BAN F&F---it single handedly create a whoel generation of losers in rice rockets looking to catch a race ...they kno wnothing about import acrs..and the tuning community..all they wana do is feel like vin diesel.its pathetic...that movie did so much damage to our culture...horseshit!
I'll agree that way too many dumb kids take that movie seriously, but I know for me, and probably others, it was my first introduction to the import scene.
In parkour, no one is afraid. One is just...apprehensive.
F&F isn't the only reason, like imp said. People are responsible for their own stupid actions. I don't race at all right now (my car needs maintainance) but I sure as hell wouldn't race on the street

Pretty harsh, I think a better lesson is wear your seatbelt, like seriously.. what kind of moron now a days does not wear their seatbelt?? And second, don't drive like an asshole and even though people are suppose to watch out for you, it's better that you do the looking for them because a lot of people don't shoulder check and they can't see whats in their blind spot.
I wouldn't call this a result of street racing, just careless driving and those kids are lucky to even be alive. Very sad though.

I agree.. the first thing I told my friend is I'd want to upgrade all our cars [/b]"brakes"[/b] get top of the line for that as being able to stop increases your chances of getting out of an accident I'd say..

I agree, racing should be done, but THERE ARE TRACKS FOR THAT! All that racing on the street does is put innocent people in danger, as you saw in the story above. What if, instead of it being a truck, it was another little car, and they kids in the civic had hit it square on their passenger door and killed the person sitting there? you you still be saying "fuck you fags" when we said it was a fucking piss poor idea for the asses in the civic to be trying to race me on a busy fucking street!
