They had a special show and had a TRD celica. They tested the car. It had widebody, TRD supercharger and other stuff. It was only a GT though. It had a 14.9 in 1/4 mile. That seems kind of slow for a car worth 44000. Man, TRD sure is expensive.
"if pimpin' is dead then I'm bring it back mata fact it never died so I take that back" -Lil Wayne-
but yea, the supercharger is worthless, you may as well just get a GTS with the money you're going to spend for the charger and custom hood and shit...
14.9 is pathetic. i bet they only had like 4lbs of boost. stupid TRD always downtuning thier products. its never as good as it could be
7.5lbs actually.
And 14.9 isn't bad, because I think the GT with them ran in the 17's...
WHATTTTTTTT???? 17's. WTF. when i was stock i got a 16.2 with a 2.4 60'. how could they possibly run slower than that???? oh my fucking god. car and driver is full of fucking idiots
was....5speed with i/h/e 15.41 @ 89.30mph 2.282 60'

yeah... i dont respect their oppinions at all, their driverse are stupid, one guy talked about how the porsche GT3 was too much of a race car and he couldnt handle it...
the TRD celica was made for the circut not the 1/4 mile. the supercharger gave it better horsepower and torque, to even out the power/weight ratio with a smooth power band to get in and out of the corners easily. with GTS you need to be in high rpm in order to use all of it's horses. the GT has more torque at a lower rpm so it's easier to drive at the circut.
Well in the same show they had a Civic Si (SiR in canada) that they swapped the engine from the JDM Civic R. It had 240hp and ran the 1/4 mile in 14.7 @98mph, and zero to sixty in 6.1 sec. The Celica had 166hp and ran the 1/4 mile in 6.2sec and zero to sixty in 6.2 sec. The celica had a 5 speed and the civic had a 6 speed put in. My question is how a lighter car with 74hp more couldn't put up better numbers? $48,000 Civic... no thanks.

??? where can i get the TRD supercharger? I thought they only had 1 for the matrix so far
that supercharger is for the 1zzge engine. i got the trd parts catalog. "TRD's latest supercharger for the 1.8l-powered matrix and corolla offers up to an 30% increae in max hp from 130 hp stock to as much as 170 hp and 6,800 rpm 0-60 time inproved from 9 sec to 8.3 and the 1/4 mile acceleration time from 16.7 at 84 mph to 15.8 at 84 mph."
the supercharger is recommended for the matrix but the matrix has the same engine as the gt.
i really wish though that c&d did the write up on a gts and really show wat toyota and trd can pack into one punch.
how can it only hit 14.9? they need to yank that widebody off...my friends gt is hittin 15.54 right now...thats kinda pathetic but then again the celica wasnt really meant for 1/4 mile runs so its all good
