Cost 1011 for me. I/E maps for now. Just took her out for a spin, got some pics on the install... I'll make a guide in a bit.. got up around 130 and heard a horrible noise, but it's a noise I had heard before.. the undercar plastics being ripped off the front bumper and scrapping on the ground. So I pulled over and had to cut and unbolt them. Gotta order a C-One underbody panel now. Performance is great, but I can't wait untill I get the kazuma put on at the end of the week.. As I have found out there are no laws governing the exhaust noise of cars. So I don't have to worry about cops.

Death so you were running it with just CAI installed , but yet you haVE THE I/E mapping installed for it? Also, i had the same problem with my skid plte scarping the floor. I had it removed also, but havent replaced it yet. I dont think its that big of a worry, unless you go offroading

Ya everything seemed to be ok, got a check engine light flash a few times, means the injectors where at their maximum, but it's ok.. should run so much better when I get the kazuma on.

this may be a kinda stupid question but I'm gonna ask anyway...

Do you need to replace your knock sensor with an '00 or '01 knock sensor with the power FC?

Cause when changing '02s over to '00 or '01 ecu's you have to do that. Just thought it might have something to do with your check engine light. idunno

Whoa buddy, take a step back and read again.. I wasn't complaining I was sharing my experience.. And not having my kazuma on isn't the reason the check engine light flashing durring shifts, it's telling me the injectors have reached their maximum capacity. Thats it.

Good question, I was wondering the samething when I started thinking about how to spend my money. You do not need to replace the knock sensor.

one more question...

What does the power fc do to your emmissions, are you 50 state legal now or not?

after looking at the ease of your install guide, you've really got me seriously considering this

there is somehting in the PFC that allows you to change knock... thats why jason and mike were bringing their cars up to 8600 rpms.

This is a excellent question, but sadly I do not know.. right now I really don't care either. It's so easy to take out and put the stock ecu back in that it doesn't matter.. but from what I've read about fuel maps, I would venture to say that you wouldn't pass. The fuel maps are a lot richer than the stock maps.

EDIT:Also in Washington, at least in Vancouver, you don't have to take your car to DEQ if it's not that old, and if it's too old then it doesn't matter at all.. Right now I work in Texas but my car is registered in washington, my insurance is from washington and my license is from washington, so there are serveral loopholes where laws do not apply to me.. Like I could get pulled over here for a loud exhaust(even thou I've recently found out that texas has no noise laws) and get a ticket, but I could fight it and say that my car is registered in washington and that the law is different there. Lots of grey areas within the laws.

i dont understand how making the AF ratio richer would give you more power... in any instances i've heard of you get more power by running lean...

Really? confused My friend has been pulled over for his exhaust dump on his 90 Mustang Cobra (he has all his exhaust still on the car, so it looks stock, but it all dumps straight out of the headers and is louder than you'd believe). I may have to check that out though. Where'd you find that out?

Shop on base where I go to work on the celica.. was asking one of the of guys if he knew a good place to get some welding done, and after talking for awhile I told him I wanted a job done without any questions being asked because it was going to be a loud exhaust that didn't meet noise laws, he told me there wern't any in texas(or at least SA).

You work at Lackland?! Anyway, yeah maybe it's just SA, but that really is interesting. I'll have to check that out for myself. Its good news if its true.

as far as tuning is concearned the old saying

"leaner is meaner"

basically the less fuel you can put into the engine the MORE power you will make, right up until you blow your engine wink

as for the pfc it should flash the check engine light every full throttle to off position. Its normal. Theres a nice phst sound it makes also smile

they are way to rich from MWR. And need to be retuned for more power. My a/f ratio was hovering in the 11's and n/a cars should be in the 13's

you should expect to be in the mid 170's with the base maps from mwr.

in all honesty you wont see that.

I too was optimistic

but with i/e and pfc you should see mid 170's corrected for alt/temps.

btw I ran my 14.0 on 167whp, which is why 170's is quite a bit of power.

lol

well upping the limiter to 8600 is easy as cake, and the engine makes power all the way to 8600 rpms

and it makes landing in lift 10X easier.

not to mention you can set the lift disengagement point, i have mine at 5600 rpms and its great for canyon carving smile never out of lift

np i hope you do prove me wrong, because then you should be able to run mid 13's with 190whp smile
