Hi guys and gals! Just wanted to see if anyone can help out a newbie like me! I'm currently saving money for a sexy new Celica Gen 7, hopefully I should have enough to pay for the first basic installment this Summer. But I was wondering if I should buy a second hand one and modify it up with the cash I save OR Buy a new one and then modify it slowly? I'm planning to get an entire new bodykit, full body respray and new leathers One more stupid question... If I buy a Celica without a spoiler, can I still install a Spoiler after? Or will I have to drill holes into the back and stuff?

im pretty sure its gonna be kinda hard to buy a celica w/o a spoiler b/c most of them have one installed. but of you are going to buy used make sure you get a nice one that hasnt been abused. welcome to the boards.

Welcome to Ecelica! I just bought my car 2 1/2 months ago and I bought it used. I got a carbon blue 2001 GTS and I got a GREAT deal on it b/c it already had aftermarket work done. It already had an exhaust, Intake, wing, all kids of crazy stuff! Over all it is costing 27,000(I had a roll over from another car)I have been lucky and haven't had any problems with it! When it comes to the spoiler/wing...you have to put holes in for it to stay Make sure that you have it done correctly!!!! IF you get one used...have it checked THOROUGHLY Test drive for more than a min. and test drive it like you stole it. I didn't notice certain things about mine until after I got it

You'll be hard pressed to find a celica WITHOUT a spoiler, many celicas have features that other cars do not. Also, you can always add a spoiler later, but if its factory, and it ever leaks, its covered under the rust/corrosion warranty.

thanks for the quick reply guys! And I'm seriously considering a decent Used Celica now, and looking on the net for some good deals (which is quite difficult cos Im in the UK and used Gen7's seem rare)
But what I meant about the spoiler thing was that some cars dont come with factory built rear spoilers (like the pic in PnOyGtS's signature), so I was wondering if I could add one at a later stage if i bought that type of Celica.

i wudd have bougth a second hand but then again if its styled i bet its drived pretty hard to buy a GTS i have GT and wannt a GTS bad just lack of mony buy a gts insted and then modify it slowly insted of jusing mony on body kits , of curse buy them later that`s my opinion And i fhink you wudd find it lot more cheaper to buy a car that is modifyed than do it your self. i see often celica`s with styling to the same price as stock ones but i live in norway and its a long ass winter that my effect some on that

All seventh gens. came with at least the stock spoiler..
If you buy one second hand, ensure you have the background checked, maybe take it to a trusted mechanic, ask how it's been driven, and what not.
Buying new is good too, no worries about the car having been driven hard or any accidents so you know the car will last for many years without a problem as long as you do the regular maintenance, but I presume you'll have to lease or make payments as you said and in the long run you'll pay a bit more.. and as for mods well, the car is pretty quick as it is so you should be satisfied for at least a little while. If you can swing it, the GTS is a better choice, this way you get ABS, moonroof, leather interior, cruise-control, fog lights, nicer alloys and a much better engine that does 0-062mph in about 6.3 seconds (at best.)
Well that's what I did, bought a 03 GTS six-speed full in cash, but no mods but I did get a good stereo put in.
