that's a nice car, but a whole ton of money...I don't think I'd spend the money unless I had it to spend and was a collector or something...I'd probably put the extra money into a regular WRX and mod the balls out of it if I wanted one and had that kind of cash...just my thoughts...amazing car tho

The thing is though, they won't depreciate in value. Look at the P1. They still exchange hands for almost the same price as they were new. spend 25 grand on a WRX Sti and in three years it'll be worth 8 or 9.

Thats way to expensive! Not a very big gain in hp for that amount of money.

and the "The WR1 also features a driver's control-center-differential. A switch located near the handbrake allows the driver to distribute torque between front and rear wheels." that has always been there, its on the sti model.

WERD! z06 and supercharge it. only thing the sti would still be better at then a s/c z06 is on the dirt and in rallies.

and don't gimme the traditional "but the import handles better then the domestic," do your homework and you'll realize why.

and to that person who said "but 12 seconds stock," you can do that in a cobra for under 40 grand. toss in a few thousand in mods and you're in the 11's. 10's aren't too far away . . .

I do agree with you, but I think one reason it's more expensive is because it's rare. Plus, seeings it's rare, wouldnt it be worth more down the road then the cobra...or vette?

i dont like the looks.

and if you buy it with intentions of selling it later, then yea rarity is of concern. or maybe you want a 'collectible' car.

that's not important to me though. if i buy a car i'm gonna drive the sh!t out of it and get the most enjoyment out of it i can possibly get. once it can't handle anymore and dies i move on to the next car . . .

maybe ill start collecting cars and selling them when i'm older and can't drive

edit: and btw, i dont' give a crap about the 'bling' factor of having a rare car

do you really wanna drive a gutted civic that probably has a SHITLOAD done to the suspension and therefor is extremely harsh on the street, having either a very expensive tranny or a tranny that needs to be replaced almost monthly, and you still have the fwd traction problem to overcome, and on top of that there is no way in hell you'll be street legal (not that matters much anyway)

not to mention the work and time you gotta put into a civic just to get it that fast. (and you gotta replace a shitload of parts that weren't designed to handle high power output)

o ya, and not to mention that you won't pimp any girls cool

I agree 100% with that one, a civic...no matter how modded is not a 'chick magnet' of a car.

Wow... Subaru is the best marketing company in the world.

The WRX was amazing because it was a Turbocharged AWD car with great power for under 25k. It was the only car stateside that could claim that. The STi was an even more impressive car, but it was in the same price range as better cars (350z, S2000) and faster cars (Mustang Cobra). Now they offer a car with a few more HP and people are actually impressed... but this time the overpricing is insane. The S4, M3, Corvette, Z4, Boxster S, and many more are actually cheaper!

Subaru might just be trying to improve it's image with these high performace cars... but to me, the thrill left when the 24k pricetag dig.

How is a Z and an s2000 better than an STI, and what exactly is a "better car"? Also, when it comes down to speed, the Cobra is barely faster than the STI.

The Z and S2000 are better because they are built with much higher quality materials. If you've ever been in the Subaru and then in one of those two vehicles, you'd know what I'm talking about (ask me where the Subaru cup holder is). Beyond that, as true sports cars they handle better, and they are from more reputable companies.

The Mustang might be "barely" faster, but it also has far more potential in the after market.

All personal opinion... but I think there is a reason that I see ten of these other cars for every STI that I see.

I don't "need" one... but "hey lets go back to my place, i'll give you a ride in my yugo" isn't an ultra-effective pickup line.
