I don't have any problems getting good pick up, but i run my RPM's kinda high. i use to drag my old tiburon a lot, and this new one has better pickup and handles like a dream compared to the 01.

here is a pic of my old '01

6500 isn't kinda high, 8350 is wink

Hyundai is a crappy car company. I test drove a GT V6 before buying my GTS, and several things were bad about it. The inside was VERY cramped, and felt cheesy. having to lift up on a lock to go into reverse is RETARDED, as in the side mirrors blocking half the road up when you turn. Also, during the test drive I took it up to 100 MPH (no sales rep) and it was scarry. Loud, hard to control, nose dives when you shift it.

Plus, a piece of weather stripping came off the car during the test. All that for $21 grand puke(6spd is an OPTION, another gay feature)

I also owned a 2001 Elantra before the GTS, and at 40K miles it was falling apart. Engine sounded great when we bought it, a couple of trips up to redline (like 100 laughsilly ) and it ran like shit. thumbsdown

well, if you rag out a car, what do you expect to happen to it?? also, you can't say that hyundai as a whole is a crappy car company just cause you had a problem with a test drive. my uncle has a land cruiser, total lemmon. Always in the shop, always something wrong with it. that doesn't mean that i'm going to say toyota sucks, DON'T EVER BUY A TOYOTA, no way.

i wish they would do the celica convertible again, those were sweet! OOOOOHH!!!!! and i just went to the toyota website, they are doing HID in the celica now, i'd totally switch over just for that! wink (seriously, love HID headlights, but don't trust those aftermarket kits)

A few thoughts...

1) I'd never trust a car that came from the same country as Kia's. Forget it now that they are the same company.

2) The tib is NOT even in the same class as the Celica. Look at the power/weight ratio. It's like driving around in a V6 Mustang or GS Eclipse.

3) The decision to buy one of these could only be described as the point where bad taste meets bad logic. If you need a car and only have 20k to spend, why would you get a "sporty" POS instead of a reliable "vanilla" car like a Mazda3, Nissan Sentra, Toyota Corolla, ect?

nissan sentras are ugly, if i wanted a 4 door grocery go getter, wanna-family economy car, i'd get a civic, not a sentra. i've personally already had two toyota corollas, kinda burnt out on those. and i don't want a four door car anyway, i want coupes/conv/sports type cars. (not implying that my car is a sports car. i know if i don't put the disclaimer down, one of you would go off on me about that) rolleyes oh, and the mazda3 just came out like hmmmm a month ago, so that wouldn't have been an option in 2001, let alone anything bought over a month ago. and, if you don't keep a car for more than two years, who cares how long it lasts, you're not going to be around it to give a crap.

In 2001? Even better. The Protege was better than the 3 in many ways. In any case, if you really wanted a Tib and are happy, that's all that matters. I'm just saying that I'll never personally understand it.

The only point you made that I will comment on is the reliability factor and how it's meaningless if you get new cars every few years. The problem with that is that people aren't stupid... cars that have poor reputations for longevity have MUCH lower resale values. You're really going to be eating the depreciation if you get rid of your car that often.

Went to the Norway Hyundai website wink

If you can get a 2.0 you should do it. It is a really nice car with a reliable engine (a friend has one, I drive it alot). There is only one thing better on my Celica and that is the looks, but that is just my taste.
In my opinion you can't go wrong with a Hyundai Coup or a Celica.

thos it have the same power as a celica GT?

No it doesn't have the same power as the celica GT (but it is close). And it is havier. So Performance is a bit lower than with the celica GT. But if you are like me, and not planning to race, you will like the Hyundai. It feels smoother than the celica GT.

Tiburon top model is GS-R with a 2.7l V6 and 181hp with 177lb/ft of torque and the car redlines at 6k rpm. It goes from 0-62mp/h (0-100km/h) in 8.25 seconds and does the quarter mile in 16.14 seconds and.with a top speed of 142.5 km/h.

Where as a Celica GTS has 1.8l 180hp and only 133lb/ft of torque, redlines at 7800 rpm (fuel cut off in 8's rpm, goes from 0-62mph in 6.3 seconds and does the quarter mile in 15.3 seconds

I saw that silver Tib again. This time I was behind it. Is it really a dual exhaust or is it just for looks? confused It made me laugh because the exhausts are made to look like 2.5"/3" pipe but upon closer inspection I noticed it was just the tip and the actual pipe was much smaller. I think I could fit a quarter in each of them rofl

best i seen is 6.5-6.6

and .2 is a big big difference

Gotta give you lots of props because people are ripping on ur car an you've taken it and actually been cool about it. thumbsup thumbsup MY friend has an 03 TIB and that thing is hot, interior is sweet and the exterior is sweet as well(I only like how it looks in black and white though). But I still like the Celica and the RSX Better, another friend of mine owns a RSX.

yah, i don't take many things to heart. and i wouldn't consider the things being said on here as un-biased opinions. of course people are going to defend what they own. I don't personally care, it's just a car, and i like the way it looks, drives, and it's fast enough for me. Also, i just ask my self, do i really want to get upset about this, in two years is anyone going to care what was said on the message board. it's not worth my time to get upset. everyone is entitled to their own opinion. grin thumbsup
