Thats the invader hood? I thought the VIS Invader hood had only one scoop in the front instead of those twin scoops.

![[Linked Image]](https://celicahobby.com/gal3/albums/kit_brshood_ins/DCP_0016.jpg) "2 PIECE" means that its the HOOD and REMOVABE HOODSCOOP HOOD = PIECE 1 of 2 SCOOP = PIECE 2 of 2 ... BRS TUNING CARBON FIBER HOOOD & HOODSCOOP FEATURING NACA DUCTS... https://celicahobby.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=4;t=001541NACA ducts are useful when air needs to be drawn into an area which isn't exposed to the direct air flow the scoop has access to. Quite often you will see NACA ducts along the sides of a car. The NACA duct takes advantage of the Boundary layer, a layer of slow moving air that "clings" to the bodywork of the car, especially where the bodywork flattens, or does not accellerate or decellerate the air flow. Areas like the roof and side body panels are good examples. The longer the roof or body panels, the thicker the layer becomes (a source of drag that grows as the layer thickens too). Anyway, the NACA duct scavenges this slower moving area by means of a specially shaped intake. The intake shape, shown below, drops in toward the inside of the bodywork, and this draws the slow moving air into the opening at the end of the NACA duct. Vorticies are also generated by the "walls" of the duct shape, aiding in the scavenging. The shape and depth change of the duct are critical for proper operation. Typical uses for NACA ducts include engine air intakes and engine headers cooling [ 04-22-2003, 05:41 PM: Message edited by: isaac ]

FIRST:
I believe that hood was a custom venting job.
SECOND:
Of course, but it would be insignificant anyways.
THRID:
The hood scoop can be removed from the hood. Not all one piece.

since where talkin about Carbon Fiber hoods i got a silly question for the guys who knows about the invader style Carbon Fiber hood, if it rains where does the water go on the invader style? i mean if you look at the image theres another air duct facing the hood scoop ![[Linked Image]](https://celicahobby.com/catalog/images/hood_invaderCF1_big.jpg)

i think it just pools right there. the vent thing is solid so i would believe the rain/water was pool up unless it was vented.

I don't think that enough water would go into that duct to make much of a difference. It would have to be raining really hard.

the first picture is the VIS GT Extreme hood. It was a limited run because they found out after they manufactured it that it doesn't fit without shaving the ecu cover. that picture is of shawn's car, a member of projek7. hood can be purchased for as little as $350(my price directly from VIS)
the second picture is the VIS Invader hood. the front and rear scoops are BOTH open. the water doesn't pool there, it drips into the engine compartment, i don't believe there is anything important there. cheapest price i was offered was $380(directly from VIS)

the second picture is the VIS Invader hood. I think you mean the 3rd picture. Posted by Street Prototype. 380 is a Damn good Price! I may have to get that before the Nitrous. [ 04-22-2003, 09:43 PM: Message edited by: Grand-Touring-Dan ]

technically yea, the 3rd pic is the VIS invader. what i meant was the 2nd hood type that was posted. oh yea, $380 will be extremely hard to achieve from texas. performance shops there would prob charge you close to $500 for it. wat a rip. hehe, and then shipping will cost another $80-$100... There is usually a cover on the back of the hood leading the rain/water to around the side of the hood. Hope that makes sense. [ 04-24-2003, 02:33 AM: Message edited by: sleepy celica ]

i really want to buy the VIS Invader Carbon Fiber hood, but i need clear details about the vent first, if the water pools up or goes down to the engine bay... isaac, i guess your the only one that knows about it, i need a closer look under that vent on what it looks like if you can provide pics, or if anybody here got the Invader Hood, please post some info about it so i can make up my mind thanks, -JDby the way, it rains here very hard... Basically, the only thing that you should be concerned about getting water into under your hood is your intake/air-filter.
Although the following items are already waterproof, you should check the tightness of the oil filler cap, the power steering filler cap, windshield washer fluid cap, oil dip stick, battery filler caps and all other engine compartment opening caps.
everything else should be fine... there really isnt much under your hood that isnt already water proof.
