did you disconnect your battery?

maybe your battery is dead.

when you turn the key, do you get ANYTHING (if not--it's your battery).

if it just churns & churns--then its your starter.

my guess is the battery, make sure you're connected right and maybe get a jump (if you drive a manual you can push-start it).

one thing i hate about celicas: no stock voltmeter. it'd be a hella lot easier to tell if it's your battery or not.

nope...its just hanging out of the firewall so whenever i can get the stereo in...i just have to take it to the battery and go in from there...i bought my car used and it or i think it might be the factory alarm on it...do they have kill switches on them??? even when just changing out a radio???

Hate to sound like an ass, but is the carpet pushed up under the clutch?

If the clutch doesn't make contact with the button, the engine won't start, and it will appear as thought the starter is dead.

did you check the fuses... i bet you blew one, and if not, then check all the connections to the starter before you go buy a new one.
