I was thinking of getting the marked section of my TSRM exhaust removed and having just a custom straight pipe made. Would it change the gains any or just make it louder?

It might do a little of both, but probably not too much in gains.. maybe 1-2 hp

it would be a lot louder, that part is the muffler, the other canister is the resonator.

I figured it be louder. But I am wondering if gains would be worth the effort of getting a custom pipe made and all.

considering it would be illegal, probably not worth the minimal gains you MIGHT get.

If you wanted more gains, your best bet would have been to go Kazuma.

Kinda of like the AEM pulley is to a flywheel this is to unbolting the exhaust. Loss of low end torque and gains up high, just not as much as if you unbolted the exhaust.

Hm.. well I just thought I'd ask. I am happy with my TSRM.. though a while back there was a post about some sort of dual release valve. One side went to the exhaust and the other just opened into the air.. it could be changed with a switch or something. Anyone know anything about that? I tried doing a search but I couldn't find it again.

ditto. it is worth remembering though that most exhausts noly give about 3-5 whp anyway. 2 whp extra is about 50% more.

ditto this as well. you will reduce backpressure some, which will reduce a little low end torque.
