Just thought I'd show you all a little something, and hopefully I'll be a source of inspiration to some of you...

Picked up the first part of my Turbo kit the other day. I opted against going with an already put-together kit from a company and decided to piece my own together. Here is the first piece...

It's not too big, it's a Turbonetics T3/T4. It's bigger than the Turbo that comes with the Si Greddy kit but a little bit smaller than those that come with other company's kits.

As for the manifold...I'm way ahead of you. grin

how are you planning on doing the piping, and are you gonna add a MFIC?

I'll get the manifold, downpipe, charge piping and intercooler all from the same company (Cybernation) that makes full kits, that way I can be assured of a perfect fit and I'll avoid any custom fabrication altogether.

And I am not familiar with your abbreviation: MFIC...but the more I look at it, it looks like it was a typo and you meant FMIC. In which case the answer is above.

Hehe, I'm from all around Texas: San Antonio, Houston, Dallas, or Fort Worth, depending on the time of the year. But I listen to my share of the Color Changin' Click and the whole Swisha House gang. Actually, the name I first chose to register with was Mike Jones, but I put in a wrong email address so I never got to use it.

I'm shooting to finish it all off at right at or under $3000. And for all you guys that have asked me to keep this updated/ keep pictures coming/ post dyno sheets when done: don't hold your breath because I am still a poor college student. grin This custom Turbo kit will be a long time coming.

How much are you saving overall by buying the kit unassembled and assembling it by yourself?

On a side note, I'm sure that half of the people on this site wish that they could do what you are doing, but most of us are not as mechanically inclined as you are. cry

Well, compared to other kits, I'll be saving anywhere from $500-1000 or so. But there are other benefits beside the cost savings: mainly, I'm gonna have a heck of a lot more fun assembling my own kit than if I would have just plopped down a cold $4000 for something somebody else put together for me.

I appreciate the kind comments by the way. grin

Yes their wastegates are crap; I'll be using a 38mm Tial wastegate. Their Turbochargers are fine though.

15.9 must've been a pretty new driver. Most stock ones run mid-15 s with good drivers.

I dont expect to be running any times in the 1/4 mile; I don't drag. I just mess with cars for the fun of it.

...BUT...if I had to put a time on it, just based on times from other Turbo Si's, I'd say mid to high 13 s.
